Logos Evangelical Seminary concluded their retreat prior to the start of fall semester at Bethlehem Prayer Garden.
After three days of interaction, the students and teachers became well-acquainted with each other, which help their relationships become stronger, and their hearts, minds, and souls received cleansing and moisturizing, and thus, becoming renewed in their strength to serve.
The guest speaker used meek words that are clear in its message and appropriate examples that touched the attendant’s hearts: when time comes, then the plane has to depart; a living fish in fresh water won’t become salty; don’t ever come back down again from the offering altar; only when you experience the wind, can you rise up.
Moreover, LES president Dr. Felix Liu preached a message titled “An Epoch-making Offering Altar – El-elhoe-Israel” at the retreat. He referred to the verse where Jacob build an altar for God and named it El-elhoe-Israel, meaning God, God of Israel.
Furthermore, Liu pointed out that the altar is building a relationship with God, expressing gratitude and absolute obedience to God. It also commemorates the experience of the Lord touching Jacob and God changing Jacob’s name to Israel. Jacob took hold of God and God has already been waiting for us, the “Jacobs”, to become “Israel.”
Addressing the offerings on the altar, God is pleased with a clean offering. He can “smell” the fragrance of our offerings and bless us, said the LES president.
“Today, we must return to the innocent love and dedication that we had at the beginning, offering up our lives to be a living sacrifice; on the path of sacrifice, there is a need to find a spiritual guide, from time to time to get rid of the ashes of the burnt offering, and to enter the world of “Israel” to be a real Israelite.”
With the eager hearts to learn and study the words of truth, students from around the world became neighbors, classmates, and teachers and students, coworkers became closer together through care and interaction, which allowed the new students to experience a common vision and calling, forming a strong “team of love.”
Although some say that seminaries is a very difficult place, others have also described this retreat gathering is the Honey Moon week for news students.
According to LES, they hope that this week of honey moon will become a month, a year, and so forth, allowing the relationship between the new students and God to always remain sweet.
