One of the issues with Android 6.0, the latest version of Android, also known as Android M or Marshmallow, is that it really hasn't come out on many of even the newer Android devices. Motorola is actually doing a pretty good job getting it out there, and this is what is currently known about the Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date for Motorola Moto X, G, E, Maxx Series, Droid Turbo and Moto Turbo Series on subscribers like US Cellular, Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.
So far, the Motorola devices that have been given the update include the Motorola Moto X, the 2014 Moto X, the Moto G, and the earliest to have received it is the Moto X Pure Edition back in December, according to Gotta Be Mobile.
The official Motorola blog lists off several devices that are due to receive the Android 6.0 update:
- Moto X 2nd Gen (2014), Moto X Pure Edition (2015)
- Moto G & Moto G 4G (2014), Moto G 3rd Gen (2015)
- Moto Maxx, Turbo, DROID Turbo
- Moto DROID Turbo 2, Maxx 2,
- Moto E (2015), Moto G Turbo
- Moto X Play
- Moto X Force
- Moto X Style
The International Business Times reports that the users of the 2015 smartphone, Moto X Pure Edition on Sprint and US Cellular have received the Android M update. The same handset, also known as the Moto X Style in other markets, has received the new Android build.
As for the Moto X Play, also known as the Verizon Droid Maxx 2 in the United States, Motorola has yet to release that Marshmallow there. The Droid Turbo 2, a Verizon exclusive, has finally started to receive the Android 6.0 update after the soak test. Android 6.0 has also arrived for certain Moto X Force users.
Some users of the Moto E, save for those in the United States, should have the upgrade available to them. Various users of the Moto G (2015) in various parts of the world, even in the United States and Europe, also have Android M.
As for the 2014 versions of the Moto X, Moto G, and Moto E, Motorola released the Android 6.0 to that version of the Moto X back in December. The Moto E 2014 won't ever receive that Marshmallow update, and the Moto G 2014 as well as its variant LTE is receiving its Marshmallow update.
The Moto 360 smartwatch, first and second generation, have received the most recent edition of Android Wear 1.4, designed to work with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
That is about all as far as Android updates for these Motorola devices, at least for now. Some of these devices might not have the update due to the carrier, such as US Cellular, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, or AT&T. There are times when one carrier will receive the update before others.
