Samsung recently released Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge at Barcelona's Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016. These new flagship smartphones are powered with Android Marshmallow software. Now, gadget lovers are asking when they would get their Android Marshmallow software. Today's reports say the 6.0.1 version of Android Marshmallow is rolling out to a variety of Samsung devices worldwide.
Last week, several owners of Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge received the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow via Over-the-Air (OTA) update. The OTA rollout is gradual, and some users will need to wait a little longer before they get the new operating system.
Sam Mobile said owners of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with model number SM-N920C from Cambodia received Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow upgrade. Additionally, Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920C users can install the latest software from Google using the Samsung Smart Switch PC suite. The build number of the update is N920CXXU2BPB6.
As for other Samsung gadget owners, they should expect to receive the update shortly as the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is slowly rolling to other countries across the world.
Last month, Samsung reportedly started the official Android 6.0 beta testing program in the U.S for the users of AT&T Galaxy Note 5. Also, the South Korean tech giant released Android 6.0.1 for the unlocked versions of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones in the U.K and Poland. The company has not yet announced as to when the carrier variants of these smartphones will receive the Android 6.0.1 upgrade.
Meanwhile, the Canadian carrier TELUS has assured its subcribers that the Android Marshamallow will start rolling out on March 9 for Galaxy S6 edge Plus and Note 5 owners, according to an article from Neurogadget.
We previously reported the other Samsung smartphones that are scheduled to receive Android Marshmallow upgrade. Those devices are Galaxy Note 4 Duos, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy S6 Duos, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S5 Neo, Galaxy Tab A, Galaxy Alpha, and Galaxy Tab S2 models.
Samsung gadget owners are also recommended to check their devices if it is already available for update. In order to do that, just navigate to Settings > About device > Software update.
