Last week, there were a lot of upgrades to Android devices such as the ones from HTC, LG, and Samsung.  Sony is pretty slow when it comes to their Android devices, and Motorola is also pretty sporadic.  The issue of the latest Android upgrade of version 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) is that it has actually been out for a few months, but it has only been available to a few devices.  For those who have Motorola devices, this is the latest update on the news on Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date for Motorola Moto X, G, E Series on carriers like US Cellular, Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile.

So far, the news about Motorola's Android upgrades hasn't changed much in the past week.  The report from Tech Radar states that the Moto X Pure Edition (2015) is currently getting the upgrade on Sprint, Verizon, as well as US Cellular.  It is actually quite common with Android upgrade rollouts to have some carriers receive the upgrade before others.

There are also reports of the Moto X Style, Moto X Force, and Moto X 2014 receiving the update in various parts of the world like the UK and the Moto X 2014 in the United States.  The Moto G 2015 is now receiving the update to Marshmallow depending on where you live.

Pocket Lint has a list of Motorola devices set to receive the upgrade:

  • 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (third-gen)
  • 2015 Moto X Style (third-gen)
  • 2015 Moto X Play
  • 2015 Moto G (third-gen)
  • 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the US (second-gen)
  • 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia (second-gen)
  • 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE2 (second-gen)

Unfortunately, Motorola has made a recent announcement that the Droid Ultra, Maxx, and Mini will not be receiving the Android 6.0 upgrade, according to Android Central.  Motorola formally apologized for the lack of upgrade, and dropped the price on Droid Turbo 2 and Maxx 2.

Another Motorola device that wasn't originally on the list to receive the Android update is the Moto E 2nd Generation.  However, the International Business Times reports that the Android M update is rolling out to users in India.  The Moto E (2nd Generation) is only going to be receiving the upgrade in Europe, Latin America, Canada, and Asia.

One of the reasons why there might be so many upgrades to Android last week is that Mobile World Congress 2016 took place in Barcelona, Spain this week.  Samsung and LG had their newest phones on display with the S7 and G5, respectively, but Motorola only had their Lenovo products on display.
