When it comes to reporting on the Android upgrade to Motorola products, there is a certain problem that occurs. Many tech websites that devote articles to the release of Android Marshmallow frequently update when the release date is announced, but most of these articles usually stop updating after December of 2015 for Motorola products. This is that latest news about the Android M 6.0 Marshmallow Upgrade Release Date for Motorola X, G, E-Series for Verizon, US Cellular, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile.
For example, the last update for Motorola devices on Android Pit stated that Motorola rep David Schuster announced that Marshmallow was beginning to rollout across Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular. About the only thing marked "Available" on their chart of devices was the Moto X Pure Edition.
Other devices that are marked "Confirmed" include the Moto X Play, Moto X Style, Moto X (2014), Moto G (2015), Moto G (2014), Moto G (2014) LTE, and the Moto E (2015), but only in selected regions. The Moto E will not have an update available in the United States, but will be arriving on Snapdragon 410 powered versions in Canada, Latin America, Europe, and Asia (excluding China). There are some devices on the chart above that aren't marked at all, which probably means they won't be receiving the Android M upgrade, and these devices include the Moto X (2013), Moto G (2013), and Moto G (2013) LTE. Tech Radar reports some additional devices that will receive the upgrade like the Moto MAXX, Droid Turbo, Moto Turbo, and the Nexus 6.
Know Your Mobile has reported that Motorola wouldn't reveal the exact timing for rollouts, only that "we have high standards", but promised to "work fast" to roll out upgrades until it was certain that they are ready. The Official Motorola Blog was also not much help, as an entry dated in October of last year stated "look for more news on upgrades for specific devices", and this article really should be updated to reflect current Moto upgrades, right?
So far, it is known that the Moto X Style and Moto X (2014) received their Marshmallow update, and those reports date back to last year. There is another report that Motorola began rolling out the Marshmallow update to the second generation of Moto G headset.
One of the more recent reports of the Android upgrade on Motorola products comes from the Lawyer Herald, saying that mobile carriers AT&T and Sprint are releasing the software on the Moto G (3rd Gen) by this quarter. It is expected that Android 6.0.1 will be pushed out this month.
Hopefully, it will be clear when all Motorola devices can have the upgrade. If you have a newer device from Motorola running Android 5.0 or higher, and want to see if 6.0 or even 6.0.1 is available, it is recommended that you head to your "Settings" menu and check for a "System Update". Hopefully, your carrier has this upgrade available for you, whether you are with Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, US Cellular, or T-Mobile in the United States.
