Now that it has been two months since Google announced the official rollout of their Android operating system upgrade with version 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow), it has appeared on the newest of Nexus devices. Traditionally, it often takes a little while before it comes to other smartphones, and users of the LG G4, G3, G Style, and G Flex 2 are wondering when it will arrive on U.S. Carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint.
According to Pocket-Lint, LG announced that the users of the G4, it's most current flagship smartphone, will be receiving their Marshmallow update as of October 19, but this was only in Poland. There were reports that the upgrade was called off indefinitely, but it looks like it was reinstated on November 10th, according to Trusted Reviews.
LG made some real big boasts by promising that their users would be the first to receive the upgrade, and it looks like that more regions of Europe are receiving the upgrade that includes Portugal, Romania, Germany, Spain, and Hungary. There are even some users in the United Kingdom that are receiving their personal update notification, according to NDTV.
Assuming that the current European rollout will continue, and then it is just a matter before the upgrade becomes available to Europe, Asia, and the Americas. If that happens, then there will probably be a wait until the following year, so it should hit the G4 by January or February in 2016. This might depend on what carrier that you are on in the United States, like T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T, or Verizon.
There are doubts on whether or not the Android upgrade will even reach the G3. This unusual, as usually the cut-off points for the Android upgrade stop at smart devices that are over two years old. The G3 was the LG flagship at the beginning of this year.
According to Android Pit, T-Mobile is listing the LG G3 as well as the LG G Stylo as devices that will be receiving the Marshmallow update. Also, the Korean LG support page for both the LG G4 and the LG G3 also added options for Android M, which means that the firmware will soon be appearing on the LG devices soon.
If you are a G3 user, and you want Android 6.0 now, it is possible, but it is also technical. It involves using the CyanogenMod, as it has just been revealed that CyanogenMod 13 (CM13 nightly) is running Android 6.0 and available for download to many smartphones that include the LG G3, according to the VC Post.
As stated before, installing the custom ROM is a highly technical process, and it can only be installed on d85x, Is990, and vs985 versions of the LG G3 only. Any other attempt on other devices could result in what is known as getting "bricked".
