After unveiling iPhone SE and iPad Pro last month, Apple is now expected to reveal Apple Watch 2 very soon. Rumors suggest that the new wearable will offer new features, including a built-in FaceTime camera. It is also reported to be thinner than the original watch. Now, here's what is currently known about Apple Watch 2 release date, rumors and price.
Apple Watch 2 was not present when iPhone SE and iPad Pro 9.7 were released. However, TechRadar reported that the second-generation Apple Watch is now expected to be released in June at WWDC 2016. The watch is also predicted to be released with iPhone 7 in September if not at WWDC 2016.
Moreover, Apple Watch 2 is said to be thinner than the original watch. In a Daily Express report, Wall Street analyst Brian White stated that the upcoming wearable will be 40 percent thinner than the previous watch. Also, it is expected to become less reliant on the iPhone. The second-generation wearable will have a software working without the need to communicate with the smartphone.
The much-anticipated smartwatch is also expected to have a new wireless chipset, which will enable its basic communication tasks. The chipset will also help lost watch to be found through Wi-Fi triangulation.
Rumours also suggest that Apple Watch 2 will have built-in FaceTime Camera and expanded Wi-Fi capabilities. However, the watch's external design will be left unchanged. According to Apple Insider, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that its external design will not have any changes.
Meanwhile, Apple Watch 2's internal specs will get a huge boost, but it is not yet confirmed which of its internal specs will be improved. Some tech experts believe that screen resolution, battery life, and onboard storage will have the possible improvements.
For its other features, the upcoming wearable is also foreseen to have a video camera. Several tech sites reported that it will allow users to receive and make FaceTime calls rather than just audio ones. Apple Watch 2 is also predicted to provide more than just the Sport and Standard band editions available now. Even though it's not yet confirmed, these new band lineups could be platinum, titanium, and even Liquidmetal.
As of now, Apple Watch 2's price has yet to be disclosed. The upcoming wearable is expected to cost similar to the current generation Apple watch.
