Considering that there has been a lot of news focused on EA and DICE's Star Wars Battlefront, there has been not much said about Battlefield 5. Even though Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline were met with mixed reviews, it is a safe bet that Battlefield 5 is on the way. In fact, there has been some recent information leaked about it online which could point to it being released either this fall or next winter. This is everything that is known about Battlefield 5 Release Date and News.
Battlefield 4 was infamous for being released with a ton of issues, such as being dropped from matches or unable to connect. EA has already confirmed that Battlefield 5 is on the way, and it's pretty clear that the developers want a more fine-tuned game before Battlefield 5 gets into the hands of gamers. However, Gotta Be Mobile states that it could be as soon as this year.
Technically, it will arrive in the third or fourth quarter of this year. However, as learned from Mass Effect: Andromeda, EA has a funny definition of what "fourth quarter" means. It is possible that Q4 could refer to the period after 2016 is over, like in January, February, or March of 2017.
As far as what content will be in the game, it is believe that it will not be with cops and robbers like in Battlefield Hardline. EA CFO Blake Jorgensen announced that the game would return to Battlefield's military roots, probably to appease the fans of Battlefield Hardline who didn't appreciate the change. This is the same CFO who had the weird idea of what fourth quarter meant for Mass Effect Andromeda, but perhaps Battlefield 5 could have a holiday release date.
A possible leaked date comes from a Swiss retailer World of Games, who accidentally leaked the release date of Battlefield 5 to October 26th, 2016, according to Mobipicker. EA has not confirmed that date, and it is possible that this date is a "placeholder" that somehow managed to work its way onto a website with legitimate information about the game. The Express reports that the listing has been changed.
There are rumors that it could take place in World War I. The World of Games lists Battlefield 5 as "Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter im 1. Weltkrieg," or "Multiplayer tactical shooter in WW1" when translated to English. Like the possible release date, this description has been removed. What is expected of a World War I game would be heavy tanks, machine guns, artillery, gas, trenches, and tunnels based on most World War I conventions.
Either way, look optimistically this holiday season to see if Battlefield 5 is available on the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC.
