Let's start with 2016 Chevy Volt. This economical and fun to drive car can run for up to 53 miles on a single charge.  The previous model of Volt only offered 38 miles of electric range. This year's model is perfect for people who have short work commutes. Plus, it has enough seating capacity for five passengers and efficient gas engine. 

A report from Techno Buffalo says the 2016 Chevrolet Volt offers great handling on different road conditions. The vehicle can go up to a mountain town or navigate through busy city streets.

Furthermore, other improvements in the 2016 model include two-motor electric drive unit that weighs 100 pounds less than the previous model.  Also, the new electric motors are 12% more efficient. The Volt's powertrain pumps out 149 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque. Its 1.5L gasoline engine offers 42 miles per gallon.

The prices for the 2016 Volt start at $33,170. Most of the buyers loved the car's fuel economy and low emissions.

Now, let's check out the features of 2016 Toyota Prius.  The vehicle offers 54 mpg in the city and 50 mpg on the highway, with 52 mpg in combined driving. Many variations of the Prius was release this year, but the Prius Eco model provides 58 mpg city and 53 mpg highway, with 56 combined.

Car and Driver reported the 2016 Prius is powered with OHC 16-valve Atkinson-cycle 1.8-liter engine that churns out 95 horsepower and 95 pound-feet of torque. On another hand, its permanent-magnet synchronous AC electric motor produces 71 horsepower and 120 pound-feet of torque.

Furthermore, Toyota installed its own Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) on the fourth-generation Prius.  This new technology improves the car's handling and suspension.

The Verge said the Toyota Prius Prime model has improved interior design.  Drivers can now use a high-tech touchscreen that measures 11.6 inches. Also, it has a full-color heads-up display (HUD).  Industry experts say this feature will help Prius to go head-to-head against Tesla's Model 3 car.

The base price of 2016 Toyota Prius is around $30,835.
