The West beat the East 163-158 in the NBA All-Star Game, shattering records in terms of scoring. Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers fielded questions from reporters after that game.
In a video obtained by the Gospel Herald, the reporters first asked Paul of his sense of style and fashion.
"As a rookie, I wore things that fit me a lot differently," Paul said. "I didn't really know what to wear, so I sort of wore what somebody told me to."
However, when he was asked about who the best-dressed NBA player was, he replied with a smile that it was "me, of course."
The next question then came from a reporter who asked a question from a girl who came to see the game from Taiwan. Noting that he was popular back in Taiwan and throughout Asia, she asked him about any recommendations he had for Los Angeles Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin.
"Keep playing hard, keep growing," Paul, a fellow point guard, said. "Jeremy [Lin] plays the game the right way, plays hard. He's been having a tough year in Los Angeles. I played for Byron Scott, and at least Scott lets you go and play. So I wish him the best of luck."
Another reporter then asked him what his thoughts were between a potential fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, which could come later this year if negotiations do not fall apart like in previous years.
"Man, I want to see it," Paul said. "I want to see it. Hopefully it's during the summer so we can go."
Paul was then asked about his experience of playing in the All-Star Game against C.J. Miles of the Indiana Pacers and Pau Gasol of the Chicago Bulls, who both played on the East team.
"It would've been cool [to play them] at the NBA level, the highest level," Paul said. "Both of those guys are unbelievable players too. Unfortunately, C.J. messed it up for us."
A reporter then asked him about his affiliation with the Air Jordan brand, noting that Paul was a big fan of the shoes first made famous by NBA legend Michael Jordan.
"The first time I stood in line to buy some shoes was, for me personally, for a pair of Air Jordans," Paul said. "I don't know which ones were those. We couldn't afford them, so it's kind of crazy now to be a part of the brand."
Paul added that he wore "size 12" Air Jordans. He then continued on his story about the shoes and how he met the NBA champ.
"I was in high school and I played MJ's high school All-American Game, and he came in," Paul said. "I had chills and I had goosebumps."
Paul told reporters that he was "born and raised" in North Carolina, hence the special connection with Jordan.
"I'm a huge MJ fan, so to know him personally for my dad, my parents and everyone to know him," Paul said. "We played in Charlotte this year, and my son talks about MJ all the time."
Paul added that his son loved the movie "Space Jam," which had Jordan and Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck play a competitive game set in a cartoon-like basketball court against a bunch of aliens.
"It's crazy for my son to be 5 [years old] and never see MJ play," Paul quipped. "For him to be his favorite player is crazy."
A reporter then asked him where his son was, given the excitement surrounding the game.
"Yeah, I should've brought him," Paul said. "He's at the hotel. He had to go to sleep."
Another reporter then asked the NBA player what his views were in regards to family values.
"Family is everything," Paul said. "Regardless of what I say right here, my family's going to be there. They're not going to judge you or anything like that. For me, I try to spend as much time with my family."
Paul acknowledged that there will come a time in the future where "no one will care about you or anything," which is why he spends a lot of time with family.
The final question from another reporter focused on how the role of point guard has evolved during his time at the NBA.
"Deeper than ever; it's the toughest positon in the league," Paul said.
