‘Daredevil’ Season 2 New Trailer, ‘Jessica Jones’ Season 2, ‘Luke Cage’, ‘Iron Fist’ and ‘Defenders’ Marvel Netflix Series Release dates

"You know you're one bad day away from being me."

This is what the Punisher says to Daredevil on the new trailer for Season 2 of the hit Netflix/Marvel show.  Not only is this really going to take the darker Cinematic Marvel universe into an even darker territory, it is going to affect Jessica Jones Season 2, and the first seasons of Luke Cage and Iron Fist with it.  These are shows planned by Netflix and Marvel, and this is the release dates for these Defenders shows.

It has been widely known for months that the Punisher, a vigilante anti-hero from Marvel comics source material, would be making his way into Marvel's Daredevil.  The new trailer shows a lot Frank Castle (the Punisher's real name, played by Jon Bernthal), as his one-man war on crime shows him leaving a trail of death to criminal gangs in Hell's Kitchen.  Considering that Matt Murdock (Daredevil's real name, played by Charlie Cox) was very tempted to kill the main villain in Season 1, it will be the Punisher that shows Matt what would have happened if Matt had gone over the edge.

Another thing that the new trailer reveals is that Karen (Debroah Ann Woll) wonders if "we have made him this way".  It is assumed that the "him" she is referring to is The Punisher, and if Daredevil's vigilante justice, tough as it was, somehow inspired the Punisher's actions to be even more tough.  It is interesting to see that it looks like Karen seems to know that Matt is Daredevil, something that wasn't revealed in Season 1.  There is also a scene where Karen is getting her face caressed, and it could be that Matt and Karen will have a romantic relationship.

This new trailer doesn't really have any focus on Elektra (played by Elodie Yung).  This character is also pulled from the comic book source material, and she has also been known to kill her foes.  It is not known what direction that will take in Season 2, as it looks like The Punisher is going to be the main focus.  We'll have to see when Daredevil returns for Season 2 on March 18th.

As far as how this affects other Marvel Netflix series, the first season of Jessica Jones could affect this next one planned, which is Luke Cage, coming sometime in 2016.  Luke Cage (Mike Colter) was a main character on Jessica Jones, and he was involved with Jessica (Krysten Ritter) romantically.  The two of them were separated by the end, but Claire Temple (aka The Night Nurse, played by Rosario Dawson) knew about them both.  Claire has appeared on the Daredevil series, and knows about Matt Murdock and his nocturnal activities.

Luke Cage could begin in a crime-filled Hell's Kitchen in the aftermath of the Daredevil vs. Punisher conflict.  People might not like to see crime-fighters in the neighborhood, and Luke Cage, with his super powers, could quickly become an anathema.

The show that little is known about is still Iron Fist.  The imdb page says that it will be coming out in 2016, and the only cast member who is confirmed is Carrie-Anne Moss, who played Jeryn Hogarth on Jessica Jones.  Speaking of Jessica Jones, there is another link to Iron Fist on it.  The character of Malcolm Ducasse (Eka Darville) began as an addict to a drug known as Steel Serpent.  This drug was introduced on Daredevil, and the Steel Serpent is Iron Fist's arch-enemy, which means that he could be appearing on the show.

So all these shows do tie together, but the biggest issue is how they will tie together when all four of these characters get together on The Defenders, which might not air until 2017.  By then, Season 2 of Jessica Jones could appear before that.
