Destiny is an online first-person shooter game by Bungie, published by Activision, and it is a phenomenon in and of itself, taking place in a very alive universe full of millions of players.  In addition to the game's very popular downloadable content (DLC) and expansion packs, there will be a live event coming in February called "Crimson Days," the Destiny way of celebrating Valentine's Day.  Not only will "Crimson Days" have some new kind of gameplay, but there will be fixes as well.  "Crimson Days" might not be the only new thing that will be released to Destiny players in the next month. 

"Crimson Days" is the first Bungie Weekly Update of 2016, and it will add a new Crucible game type known as Crimson Doubles to the game.  Gamerant reveals in a recent press release:  "In the world of Destiny, the Guardians will be celebrating the rare variety of companionship that can only be found in the heat of battle. You're invited to the Tower to partake in the real party, a ritual known by the brave as Crimson Days."

Crimson Doubles is a variation of Destiny's already existing Doubles Crucible playlist, featuring two vs. two gameplay.  Bungie states that this version of Crimson Doubles "features a special twist, born of new gameplay and mechanics that only battle-tested star-crossed lovers will appreciate. You'll need a dancing partner - preferably one that complements your fighting style. The two of you will have a chance to earn some 'sweet' loot together in the Crucible. To receive your gifts, you'll have to put your differences aside and fight well as a couple."

As far as what kind of "sweet loot" is available, that has not been revealed.  There was an event known as "Sparrow Racing League" that offered maxed 320 gear, so fans will need to cross their fingers to see if something as valuable as that will be available again.  Bungie is also planning another Weekly Update that will give more details. 

This is not the first time that Destiny has had an event around a holiday as three months ago Bungie celebrated with "The Festival of the Lost", an event around Halloween which featured masks, new dances, and Quests. 

There have also been rumors of another event, and it was rumored to be called "The Dawning."  In fact, the Crimson Doubles was spotted recently on Bungie Designer Lars Bakken's PSN profile, and it was thought that this gameplay would be part of "The Dawning."  Perhaps "The Dawning" is still on its way, due to arrive sometime in 2016. 

This "Crimson Days" event will begin on Tuesday, February 9th.  On this same day, there will also be a launch of the February update for Destiny, which Bungie states will be "other improvements and fixes" to the game.
