‘Destiny’ New DLC and Expansion ‘Rise of Iron’ Release Date; ‘Destiny 2’ Release Date and News At E3 2016?

Destiny: Rise of Iron
Destiny: Rise of Iron will be released on September 20 for $30 Bungie

When Bungie released Destiny to players years ago, the game became an instant hit with its very complex science-fiction storyline.  There has been a lot of expansion packs such as House of Wolves and The Taken King, but there will be a new expansion pack/DLC with Rise of Iron.  This is in addition to Destiny 2, which will have its release date very soon.

According to Forbes, there was a very large leak when it comes to the new expansion for Destiny's newest DLC.  Part of the leak actually came from Bungie itself, as it revealed the exact date (see below) for Rise of Iron.  Sadly, there is news that this release date is only for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which means that the last generation of consoles are getting left behind.

Then there was a leak on the Xbox Store, which actually had an immense description of the DLC, but this listing has been removed.  Of course, removing something on the Internet is completely impossible, and here is what it read:

"Destiny: Rise of Iron is the next highly anticipated expansion to the Destiny universe. The wall which stood for centuries along the southern border of Old Russia has collapsed. Fallen mutants now scavenge the tombs of the Golden Age, and the plague they have unearthed in the wastes is more dangerous than even they understand. Join Lord Saladin. Journey into the Plaguelands. Learn the fate of the Iron Lords and stop the growing threat before it is too late."

In addition to that, this expansion promises new story campaign, new quests, new armor, new gear, new weapons, new raid, new strike, new Plaguelands Zone, new Social Space, new Crucible Mode, new maps, new enemy faction, new bosses, not to mention a maximum light increase.

So, does this mean that the older generation of consoles have been officially left behind?  In all honesty, perhaps it is better that Bungie start early, as Destiny 2 is on the way, and will definitely be made for the PS4, Xbox One, and could easily transfer to the next generation of consoles.  As far as the size of the expansion, it should be pretty large at 14 GB.

Apparently, Bungie was going to make a big announcement on this new DLC, and they still can, even though players already know.  I suppose that is the way with games, but it is surprising that Bungie didn't just wait until E3 2016.

For those that aren't familiar with E3, it is a huge video game convention that occurs every year at the Los Angeles Convention Center.  This year, it officially runs from June 14-16, and perhaps Bungie will have demonstrations of Rise of Iron ready for the attendees to try out.  Maybe at E3 2016, they will announce the official release date for Destiny 2, as it is supposed to arrive sometime in 2017.   Rise of Iron will arrive on the PS4 and Xbox One on September 20, 2016.
