"The Following" DLC coming soon. (Techland)

Video game developer Techland has confirmed that a new Dying Light DLC will soon be released that features plenty of caves, waterfalls, farms, open fields, crossbow weapon, buggy upgrades and a karma system.

Called The Following, Techland said the new expansion pack will be different from the previous DLCs, which features plenty of buildings. Techland said in its latest tease, "For Dying Light: The Following we're adding a number of bold game-changers to create one massive expansion. Something big that will give the game a brand-new flavor. We also kept a close eye on player feedback to help tailor what we've created here. Hopefully people will see that this new expansion is first and foremost, for the fans."

According to Design & Trend, gamers can explore the new features of the soon-to-be released The Following DLC on the outskirts of the game's main Harran area, so expect less buildings to hide or climb when fight a horde of infected zombies.

However, The Following offers a wide array of buggies for defense or to get away from attacking zombies. Some reports indicated that gamers must use these vehicles at night as the buggies are their only means of transportation to reach a certain position of safety. Good news though, the DLC offers plenty of option to customize and upgrade the buggies to adapt to your strategy and advance into the game.

Express added, "The Following will also boast its own unique skill tree, allowing players to traverse the vast expanse of the Harran countryside in what is their deadliest weapon yet.

Techland added, "An important part of this experience is commandeering all-terrain buggies and enjoying the game's creative brutality and freedom of movement in high gear, but drivable vehicles are only one of many new features we're preparing for The Following. We're calling it an expansion pack and we take it seriously, so you can expect it to be jam-packed with new quests, mechanics, abilities, weapons, and challenges. The story also unfolds in a way that really helps connect what was happening in Harran to the outside world and will show Kyle Crane in a totally new light to players."

Back in Gamescom, Dying Light producer Symon Smektala shared about their reaction to the success of 'Dying Light' to VideoGamer.com.

Smektala said, "To be honest, I think even we are a little surprised by the scope of our success. We knew that we'd made a good game. If you are a gamer, even if you make games you are still a gamer, so we know the game is good when you feel that rush when you play. So we knew that Dying Light is a good game, we know it's going to be successful, but that successful? We are in the 10 best-selling games in the US right now for the first half of the year, so tremendous success. More than 5 million copies sold."

However, due to the massive size of the DLC, players must be prepared to play for long hours.

"It's 10+ hours of gameplay. If you want to maximise it then it's about 20 hours, maybe even more," Smektala added. "The thing is, we started smaller but the whole team got so excited that everyone in the studio wanted to leave their mark on the expansion pack. Even when we had level designers that weren't tied to the project, they wanted to create a quest or mission or anything that could be in the expansion pack. It really sparked the imagination of our guys."

The Dying Light DLC: The Following will cost $14.99 when it hits the shelves and will be free to Season Pass holders. Techland has yet to confirm its official release date.
