Bethesda Game Studios Game Director Todd Howard confirmed on YouTube's E3 livestream that the much-awaited Elder Scrolls 6 is now under development. In addition, Bethesda announced the Elder Scrolls Online will have three new DLCs this year. Here's the latest round up of update about Elders Scrolls 6 and Elders Scrolls Online DLC release date, update and rumors.
To begin let's start with Elders Scrolls Online DLC news. In an IGN report, game director Matt Firor said the online edition of Elder Scrolls will receive an Argonian Dungeon Pack, character customizing barber shop and player housing expansion. The game director has not yet revealed the exact release date of these DLCs, but it is expected they will be released this year.
The upcoming expansion packs are part of Elders Scrolls' multiple DLC packs that work like "episodes", which would suit gamers who play in and out of the game intermittently. Firor said they found a lot of gamers play the game for two or three weeks then stop. Then they play again two months later, because there's no pressure for them to finish the story all at once.
Meanwhile, the Dark Brotherhood DLC is now available in The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited for 2,000 crowns, following the roll out of update 1.14 earlier this week.
Together with the Dark Brotherhood DLC, the new The Elder Scrolls Online update comes with many changes to the main game. Some of the new features are Poison-Making in the Alchemy system, tweaks to item set Traits, improvements to the Activity Finder, item locking, nameplates and more. In the E3 2016, Bethesda also announced the One Tamriel update, which will open up the entire playable world to everyone. Once the update becomes available, it will allow players to travel throughout all of the game's locations by just finishing the tutorial. PC Gamer reported the One Tamriel update could be released sometime this autumn.
As for the release date of Elders Scrolls 6, industry experts speculate it might happen in the next couple of years. Game Director Howard previously said they are not going to rush the development of the game. He added that "we have a pretty good idea of what it would be, and it's just going to take technology and time that, really, we don't have necessarily right now." Nevertheless, the confirmation of Elder Scrolls' next installment is good news for players of the longest-running and most successful blockbuster videogame franchise.
