Former Rep. Allen West said unless the culture of killing the country’s future generations is stopped, “God will not bless America.”

While pro-life voters celebrate the election victory of president-elect Donald Trump, West warned of a “vicious” backlash against progressive socialism, saying it is time to “go on the offensive” to fight for the right to life.

“Right now, this administration has an opportunity,” West said in a speech at the Vitae Foundation’s banquest held in Columbia, Mo. “They don’t have a mandate. We have an opportunity to go back and tell the American people what makes America great.”

He said the American family, under the Obama administration, has suffered from decimation. The country needs to go back to “faith, family, individual responsibility and entrepreneurship,” West said.

The organization National Right to Life estimated that 58 million babies have died from abortion since Roe v. Wade in 1973, according to Life News. This translates to about 3,300 abortions daily and 137 abortions per hour.

West said Trump is now given the chance to positively impact the American family. During the campaign, Trump promised to nominate pro-life Justices to the Supreme Court. Many people believe this is one of the major reasons that propelled him to victory.

“We will not be truly blessed as a nation until we right this wrong,” West said. “If we are a country that continues to have a business in killing our future generations, God will not bless America.”

He told the audience to be vigilant in guarding the nation’s opportunity under a Trump administration to make things right and be rid of the “death culture.” If they would not be careful enough to guard it, the practice of killing babies “could be the legacy we pass on” to the future generations, West said.

“We have an opportunity to destroy progressive socialism,” West said. “We’ve got an opportunity to strike before they strike back. It’s coming and it’s going to be a vicious counter-attack.”

This statement was confirmed by Planned Parenthood Great Plains chief executive officer Laura McQuade, who said the organization will launch an “aggressive fight” for abortion.

“Any attack on safe, legal abortion will be countered with an aggressive fight, like the one we witnessed at the Supreme Court earlier this year when restrictions designed to block a patient’s access to abortion in Texas were ruled unconstitutional,” she told the Columbia Daily Tribune.

“This is the standard set at the highest court and any effort to challenge our patients’ rights will be met with swift and stern action.”
