Fallout Shelter, a very incredibly popular application that was once only available for Apple devices, has now come to Google Play. It looks like this game is just in time to drum up even more exciting news about Fallout 4, which has its release date soon for the console and PC.
According to Gotta Be Mobile, Fallout Shelter for Android has arrived more than a month after its Apple store release. It is free on Google Play, but like most mobile games, there are many in-app purchases that can be bought with real money.
Fallout Shelter is not meant to be some companion application for Fallout 4. It is essentially a stand-alone game that allows players to control "vault dwellers" in order to build a shelter to keep people safe. It is possible to build a roomy place to survive, but you will have to fend off enemies like Deathclaws, radroaches, fires, starvation, and other hazards that come from living in a post-nuclear, war-torn world. The purpose is to keep all the vault-dwellers happy in their close quarters, and it gets harder as the shelter gets larger.
When Fallout Shelter came to the iPhone and iPad, it quickly became number one on Apple's free games, according to Forbes. Fallout Shelter arrived on the Apple store in a timely fashion, right after E3 2015, a very large gaming convention held annually during the summer at the Los Angeles Convention Center. E3 is a place where the big companies show off their games, and Fallout 4 is one of the most anticipated games of this year, as it is the sequel to the massively popular Fallout 3.
Bethesda Game Studios promises that Fallout 4 is "their most ambitious game ever" and "the next generation of open world gaming", according to their official website, where the game is available for pre-order. It is open world as the player, a lone survivor from Vault 111, must wander through a vast open world filled with hundreds of locations, characters, and all kinds of quests. It will be possible to join a faction, or just be a sole survivor, a la Mad Max.
Fallout 4 will have a new S.P.E.C.I.A.L. character system which allows the player to choose from a lot of perks and develop a playstyle. The game will also have "the most advanced crafting system ever", allowing the player to create weapons, armor, chemicals, food, as well as build and manage entire settlements.
It looks like the setting of Fallout 4 will be in Boston, and the new graphics and lighting engine to put everything in very lifelike detail. Fighting in Fallout 4 will also be updated in first or third person combat as there is a Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System (V.A.T.S.) for choosing attacks and inflicting serious damage.
Fallout 4 is due to be released on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 10th, according to the Telegraph.
