Legion will come this year Kotaku

Right now, in Cologne Germany, it is the site of the biggest video game convention in the world with Gamescom.  On August 5th was the trade visitors and media day, but it officially starts on August 6th and goes until August 9th.  One of the biggest events to be unveiled at Gamescom comes from Blizzard, makers of World of Warcraft (WOW), and they unveil their new Legion expansion and leak a lot of information, thanks to MMO Champion.

According to Polygon, the new expansion for World of Warcraft will simply be known as Legion.  Building of last year's World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, the new expansion of World of Warcraft: Legion will focus on a new continent called The Broken Isles.  This new continent will have the Tomb of Sargeras, a place with the invasion of the Burning Legion demon army.

As was suspected before the announcement, the level cap will be raised to 110 from 100.  Gamespot also reports that in addition to the unveiling of the new level cap, there will also be a new class known as Demon Hunter.  The Demon Hunter has some interesting attributes as they can double-jump, and have wings to perform surprise gliding attacks.  This class is blind, but it has "magically augmented sight" for seeing.

There will also be a new reworked player vs. player honor system with players ranks up through honor ranks, allowing them to unlock special talents designed solely for player vs. player combat.  This PvP ranking system will have a prestige option similar to Call of Duty, which allows players to reset their ranks when they hit the camp and start over from the beginning.  The Prestige option will allow for unique mounts and artifacts to be unlocked.

In addition to the honor system, there will also be an introduction of new artifact weapons that will allow players to customize legendary weapons.  Blizzard says that there will be 36 artifacts in total, one for each class specialization.  There will also be some visual customization so characters can hold different variations of the same powerful weapon.

More information about World of Warcraft: Legion is available on MMO Champion.  For example, it is revealed that the entire continent is a graveyard with a gateway to endless Legion worlds as this demonic invasion is spilling out, the largest one in the game.  Players will be taking the fight to Gul'dan, seeing places like the prison world of Shardoom, where all of the demons are held, as well as going to the Vault of the Wardens.

Dalaran, a floating island, is coming to The Broken Islands, and it will be the main hub of the expansion.  Players will also find the Pillars of Creation and go to Val'Sharah, a forgotten Druid refuge.  Players can also go to the Emerald Nightmare to get glimpses into the Emerald Dream.  There will also be Highmountain, the home of Highmountain Tauren, to visit the lair of the Earth-Warder.  Suramar also has a new race of elves made from the old race, who have lived 10,000 years and have flourished due to magical ability.  There will also be a lot of Dungeons like the halls of Valor (inspired by Valhalla), the Black Rook Hold, Vault of the Wardens, Eye of Azshara, Violet Hold, and the Suramar Palace with 10 bosses.

As you can see, there is a lot to be done in World of Warcraft: Legion.  The official release date has not yet been posted, but it will be available on beta this year.
