Are you all stoked up for the standard edition Gears of War 4 release? If you happen to live in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and France, then those who are looking forward to the standard edition would definitely be all excited, Majority of Gears of War fans would have already checked out the new Xbox One and PC exclusive title launch, hence a spike in worldwide server activity would not come across as a surprise.

Gears of War 4 has picked up rave reviews so far, with a 7/10 rating on Gamespot, 9.2/10 on IGN and gaining 84% approval on Metacritic.

Microsoft has also stepped forward to confirm reports that there is going to be a new Gears of War 4 update that will be released, and this particular update will bring about improvements to the Credits and Gear Packs system. According to developers The Coalition, "After monitoring our data and hearing your feedback, it was clear the calculations that determine the rate at which Credits are earned were under our own expectations – and yours. Our Player Progression team have been working hard to address this as quickly as possible in order to improve the experience of acquiring Gear Packs. As of now, a new server-side update to Credits is deployed in Gears of War 4.”

Some of the changes that will be introduced into the Credits and Gear Packs are:

  • Elite Pack Credit cost has been reduced from 4000 to 3500
  • Match Completion bonus credits in Versus Multiplayer have now been increased
  • Match Bonuses are provided whether you win or lose, though winning will yield higher XP and Credit returns. This ought to help offer a higher and more consistent Credit earn rate across modes. Not only that, with the leveling milestone drops of 500 Credits and Credit bounties, these would assist you in obtaining the next pack.

Basically, those who are already enjoying Gears of War 4 were the ones who picked up the Gears of War 4 Ultimate Edition which was launched last week, so the rest of us fans who decide to save some pennies on the side will simply have to wait for a little while longer for the standard edition.

The standard Gears of War 4 release date officially falls on Tuesday, October 11, but it will be a staggered rollout, so you can be sure that there will be a fair bit of frustration during the waiting period. There is wisdom in falling back on a staggered release, since it will definitely avoid the issue of having too many online requests at one time. It is all about a smoother gaming experience, really.

So far, picking up a match in Gears of War 4 ‘sucks’ according to Kotaku, but perhaps there will be patches and updates that will smoothen the process in the future. Another advantage of Gears of War 4 would be Xbox Play Anywhere support, allowing you to play on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC with the purchase of the game’s digital copy. Xbox Play Anywhere does not apply for physical disc copies, so do take note of that.

The entire Gears of War 4 will weigh in at a massive 54.6GB, so good luck doing other stuff while waiting for the download to complete in order to pre-load the game on the Xbox One before playing.
