An alarming map plotting the locations of sexual assaults committed by migrants in Germany shows that attacks have happened in all over the country.
A total of 2,125 people were sexually assaulted in 2016 alone. Of these 199 were reported raped while 380 were molested in swimming pools by both migrants and other nationals.
Children were not exempt from these attacks; 26 minors were raped, 286 were molested and 633 were sexually assaulted in swimming pools.
The data were released by a German group called XYEinzelfall, according to Express. XYEinzelfall said the map is regularly updated.
Earlier this year, a leaked document revealed 1,200 German women in Cologne, Hamburg and other cities were sexually assaulted. These attacks were committed by 2,000 migrant men, and only 120 of these had been identified.
Migrants and other foreign nationals were also responsible for 319 murders and attempted murders. Fourteen (14) of these were crimes against children. Authorities fear the actual count of victims could be a lot more.
Germany has a low CCTV coverage, making it more difficult for the authorities to identify the attackers.
"We have to presume that many of those crimes will never be fully investigated," German Federal Crime Police Office president Holger Münch said.
Munch admitted these crimes appeared to be connected with the influx of refugees into Germany last year.
"There is a connection between the emergence of this phenomenon and the rapid migration in 2015," he said.
Incidences of sexual assault have increased in the country since more than a million migrants from the Middle East, Africa and Asia were allowed to enter. The attacks are done either by individuals or gangs.
XYEinzelfall claims the figures they released, which are based on police press releases, represent only a fraction of the actual number of attacks because the police do not give press releases for every case. In Vienna alone, there were 647 cases of rape, but only 15 were reported.
"There is a problem for sure. Women are harassed on the streets everyday," a spokesperson for XYEinzelfall told Express. "Women are forced to put their eyes on the ground when they encounter groups of migrants, in order to avoid harassment, but they get harassed anyway. Some old ladies have been attacked in their own homes."
Aside from sexual assault cases, there were also 319 murder and attempted murder crimes by migrants and foreign nationals. Of 14 of these, the victims were children. Additionally, migrants were responsible for 112 cases of arson.
A report from Gatestone Institute published in August says that there is a countrywide "suppression of data" on migrant rapes.
"Germany now finds itself in a vicious circle: most of the perpetrators are never found, and the few who are frequently receive lenient sentences," Gatestone Institute said. "Only one in 10 rapes in Germany is reported and just 8% of rape trials result in convictions, according to Minister of Justice Heiko Maas."
André Schulz, head of the Association of Criminal Police, said an estimated 90 percent of the actual sex crimes in Germany in 2014 are not included in the offical statistics.
In January, Rainer Wendt, head of the German police union, said police officers choose to keep quiet about such crimes in order to meet certain expectations.
"Every police officer knows he has to meet a particular political expectation. It is better to keep quiet [about migrant crime] because you cannot go wrong," he said.
Plus, the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency is avoiding "discriminatory statements" and do not want to create a scenario where migrants in Germany are viewed with a "general suspicion."
