Sit tight and keep your eyes peeled, ladies and gentlemen. It looks like Google is working on new hardware that is set to have you sit up and notice. The Google Nexus 7 2016 is apparently all set for an announcement not too far down the road, and as with any device worth its salt, there are bound to be numerous leaks and rumors of the Google Nexus 7 2016 before the actual release date.
We do know that the Google Nexus 7 2016 is about to be released, although there has been no mention of an exact release date given. October is the much touted month that has made its rounds on the rumor mills so far, and it seems that some other folks have narrowed it down to October 4th. If that is the case, then it is surely not too long to wait -- we are looking at slightly more than a fortnight away.
Assuming the announcement of the Google Nexus 7 2016 on October 4th is true in a Google event, then the next rumor to follow it up would be the actual release date that would fall on November 24th. Don’t ask me how all of these dates are ironed out, somehow they have made their way to the rumor mill, and perhaps the alignment of the stars have resulted in such a timing.
The Google hardware event that will happen on October 4th is where the action is at, and most industry watchers would be smacking their lips in anticipation. Taking into consideration how Google has worked with Huawei in the past to roll out the Google Nexus 6P smartphone, it is not too far off the mark to see them collaborate once again where the Nexus 7 2016 is concerned. Huawei's very own Charlene Munilall, General Manager of Huawei South Africa, has already confirmed that the company will be developing the Nexus range in 2016 sometime in the middle of the year.
Word on the street points to HTC being the one behind the two Nexus devices, and it seems that if HTC were to work on the successors of the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P (which have been speculated to be identified as the Pixel and Pixel XL, respectively), then Huawei will be handed the reins of the Google Nexus 7 2016. After all, it is not as though there are other devices that Huawei will be left to develop. Not that we are against new devices, but who knows? A pleasant surprise might be waiting for everyone in the wings.
The Nexus 7 2016 is tipped to arrive with a minimum of 4GB of RAM, accompanied by 64GB of internal memory. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor should be running proceedings from underneath the hood, while a 14MP camera at the back disappoints not because of its resolution, but because tablets have not quite taken on a dual camera form just yet. In order to keep up with the times, it would not be surprising to see a USB-C port thrown into the fray, and we do hope that the Nexus 7 2016 will be able to give the ailing tablet market a much needed shot in the arm.
