Rockstar has the biggest video game for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC with Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5, and the company continuously updates the game with all kinds of downloadable content (DLC) like new characters, maps, vehicles, and so on. However, one thing that hasn't been delivered to players of GTA 5 is Single Player DLC, but this might be on the way. The release date for GTA 6 could be very far away, though.
One thing that many GTA 5 players have been wanting for a long time is single-player DLC. Ned Luke, a voice actor behind Grand Theft Auto 5's Michael De Santa, says that he doesn't know anything about Rockstar's plans for that, according to GameSpot. A recent post on Facebook reveals that he doesn't know when or even if Rockstar plans to release single-player DLC for GTA 5.
In fact, Luke told VG 24/7 that "EVERYBODY wants single player DLC...I know nothing about that. [I] don't know when it's gonna happen or even IF it's gonna happen." Luke's plan for the summer is to attend a number of conventions with Shawn Fonteno and Steven Ogg, who respectively play Franklin and Trevor in GTA 5. So far, there isn't any new plan for GTA 5 outside of GTA updates being announced.
Neurogadget reports that Fonteno has posted a new picture on his Instagram account that shows him in a studio at Rockstar, in a motion-capture suit. Many have speculated that this is a surefire sign that Rockstar is making a Single Player Story Mode for GTA 5, or, at least, some new content. However, there is no proof that the photo was taken recently, so it could be a recent posting of a not-so-recent picture.
Yet Rockstar has promised a DLC story back in 2013, even promising "big new plans for new additions in 2014, continuing Franklin, Trevor, and Michael's action." Then Rockstar confirmed that they are working on content for both the GTA 5 Single Player Story Mode and for GTA Online, but there still wasn't any updates on that in 2015.
It is believed that Rockstar will clarify their plans for the future. Speaking of the future, it might not be too early to talk about the release date of GTA 6. Considering that GTA 5 was released in 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and then had to be re-released for the PS4 and Xbox One, it is possible that GTA 6 could be released just before the launch of the PlayStation 5, according to Parent Herald.
There is usually about a five-year gap between the release dates of GTA versions, and perhaps all the rumors about new content are about the making of GTA 6, assuming that it wants to be released by 2018. Some are speculating that it could be 2020 before another GTA 6 gets on the road.
This is really up to Rockstar, honestly. As it stands, GTA 5 could just be given a whole bunch of new DLC to keep the players happy, and then Rockstar could release GTA 6 when the Xbox Two (presumed name of the next-gen Xbox) and the PlayStation 5 become widely available. The ball is truly in their court.
