Each new software update is supposed to fix problems, not create them. Unfortunately, Apple has not exactly lived up to such expectations in recent times, and the iOS 10.0.2 update is one such example. There are issues with the iOS 10.0.2 update when it comes to owners of the iPhone 7, iPhone 6, iPhone 5, iPad and iPod touch.
Earlier this June, Apple did introduce an iOS 10 beta which is a forerunner to the iOS 10 update, and in that particular beta version, it showcased a fair number of features that can be found on the final version of the iOS 10 update. Among the notable changes include Messages and Maps, not to mention squashing a fair number of bugs and fixing several issues at the same time. In the iOS 10 update that is chock full of changes, it also brings with it a baggage of issues -- including extremely fast draining of your device’s battery life, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity problems, among others. To make sure that things should be fixed, Apple has then continued with the iOS 10.0.2 update that will cater for all devices which are compatible with iOS 10.
It does not look as though the iOS 10.0.2 update has made life any easier though, since there have been reports going around that downloads have frozen the device. If that has been your most recent bugbear, “solving” this issue would require you to hold down the Home button and the power button until the device reboots itself. This should work for everyone, unless there is a very special exception out there.
Not only that, there are also complaints about the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity issues continue without getting fixed even with the iOS 10.0.2 update installed. Other teething problems would be the irritating experience of random reboots, lag, Touch ID inaccuracy, problems with Apple Music, and photo syncing issues. While Samsung has a far greater problem on hand with their Galaxy Note 7 exploding left and right without warning, this does not mean Apple should rest on their laurels.
A recent WhatsApp update did point out that an iOS 10 bug results in notification sounds not working properly for some, and should that describe the conundrum you are in, just restart the iPhone.
A forensics company also mentioned to Forbes that iOS 10 has resulted in a weakening of backup security, with the update “potentially guess backup passwords 40 times faster using CPU acceleration when compared to the speedier GPU-powered cracking in iOS 9.”
Apple knows about this issue and would like to address it in yet another software update -- hopefully they will then be able to solve all of the other problems that have accompanied the iOS 10 and iOS 10.0.2 updates. Best to make sure your PC and Mac have strong passwords in the meantime.
