Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who is the youngest quarterback in NFL history to start two Super Bowls, gave God glory despite a failed attempt to lead his team to winning a back-to-back Super Bowl title after losing to New England Patriots in Sunday's Super Bowl XLIX game.

Several hours before the big game, Wilson, 26, who is devout Christian, let out several tweets, showing his devotion to Christ and his reason for playing, "#BVD He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30 NKJV)."

"I worship You for the magnificent things You do!" he said. "It's about Jesus today! #GratefulnessRunningThroughMyVeins."

In a recap of the championship game, the Seahawks were down 0-7 in the first quarter, but remained closely behind the Patriots. In second quarter, Seattle tied with Tom Brady's team at 14 points, and took the lead 17-14 in the third quarter. Then, the Seahawks caught an interception, followed by another touchdown, pulling away from the Patriots at 24-14.

Towards the end of fourth quarter, the Patriots overcame a ten point deficit and took the lead with 28-24 in less than three minutes to go. Wilson threw a 31 yard pass to Marshawn Lynch, putting the ball in Seahawks' territory. Wilson threw another pass that somehow did not fall to the ground, but stayed alive, putting the Seahawks less than a yard away from the goal. However, a last minute interception by Patriots sealed their win at 28-24.

On his Twitter page, Wilson quote Psalms and noted after the game: "Thank You God for the opportunity. We'll be back. ... I will never waiver on who He has called me to be. ... Thanks 12s #GoHawks."

On Monday morning he added: "Every setback has a major comeback. #GreaterIsComing."

Last year, Wilson shared how his faith encourages him to stay humble despite his success during an interview with former Mars Hill pastor, Mark Driscoll.

"I try to live humbly ... without Him, I wouldn't be where I am today," Wilson said. "God has put me on that field for a reason, in front of 80,000 people."

"I'm a constant work in progress - we all are," he added. "That's the amazing thing about Jesus - He takes you for who you are."
