In 2014, a film about a British spy took audiences by surprise, and it had nothing to do with James Bond.  I am talking about Kingsman: The Secret Service, which was an R-Rated take on classic take-over-the-world classic 007 films.  The ultra-violent and ultra-sexual spy film was a huge hit with audiences, so it just has to have a sequel. This is what audiences will be getting next year with Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and this is what is known about the Release Date and Cast. 

There has been some recent news from CinemaBlend that Jeff Bridges is joining the cast.  He is just one of several celebrities that are slated to appear in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and the imdb page reveals that Halle Berry and Channing Tatum will be appearing in the sequel as well. 

It is believed the film will focus on Taron Egerton reprising his role as Kingsman Gary "Eggsy" Unwin, and he and his tech wizard Merlin (Mark Strong) will be headed to the states.  There, he will meet the U.S. version of the Kingsman, who are known as The Statesman.  Many have thought that "the Dude" from The Big Lebowski, Jeff Bridges, will be playing the Americanized version of Michael Caine, the leader the British spy organization from the original film. 

We have already reported that Julianne Moore will appear in the film, and there are rumors that she will be playing the villain.  There are also rumors that Elton John will be in the film, but like Channing Tatum, it is not known what role the hit singer will play.  It is also rumored that Colin Firth will be reprising his role as Harry Hart, even though he was shot in the head by Samuel L. Jackson's character in the first film.  Perhaps they will introduce Firth's character in a flashback or dream sequence. 

We do know that Sophie Cookson will be reprising her role as Roxy, the semi-love interest of the first film.  Of course, Eggsy doesn't seem to want to tie himself down at the end of the first film, so perhaps they will develop that some more. 

Speaking of rumors and reprisals, the original director Matthew Vaughn is not confirmed for the sequel.  Vaughn and Jane Goldman worked on the screenplay, and in case you are not aware, the original film, like a lot of other popular properties, is based on a graphic novel called The Secret Service. 

The graphic novel has essentially the same villainous plot as the film, but most of the characters are different.  The original six issue comic was written by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, but it actually doesn't actually have a follow-up in printed form.  This means that Vaughn and Goldman are coming up with a plotline out of scratch, so hopefully it will be appease fans of the original comic book and the original film. We will find out on June 16, 2017.
