Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens
"Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Coming June 28.  TT Games/Lego

Even though I am an adult, I still love playing the Lego series of games, which are clearly designed for a much younger audience, like my kids.  These games aren't very difficult to solve, but for those parents who want to help their kids with them, this article is for you.  You will want to consult this after Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens has its release date, so Bookmark it now.

Yes, there is going to be a Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens video game.  And it just had a recent trailer released on Star Wars Day.   The game looks to follow the usual pattern where it features levels that correspond to scenes from the source material.  The first Lego Star Wars game featured six levels per movie, and it is possible that Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens will have more to fill its usual quota of 15 to 24 levels per game just so the player can feel that they are getting their money's worth.

Gamespot reports that there will be six levels that will focus on events that did not appear in The Force Awakens movie.  For example, there will be a scene known as "Rathtar Hunting" that follows Han Solo and Chewbacca as they capture the Rathtars (those big monsters that got loose on their ship when the duo met Rey and Finn).  There is also "Lor San Tekka's Return", which shows how the character journeyed to the village in Jakku, along with "Ottegan Assault" which details how the Resistance and First Order found Lor San Tekka in the first place.  "Poe to the Rescue" shows a mission where Poe Dameron saves Admiral Ackbar, and "Trouble Over Taul" shows the events leading up to C-3PO's new red arm.  Then there is "Crimson Corsair" which shows how a pirate of the same name foiled the plans of the First Order.

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens will launch on June 28 for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS, PlayStation Vita, and PC.  It will feature voices from the cast, and the rest of this article will on....

How to Beat Lego Games

This part of this article will focus on the TT Games, which are essentially side-scroller games with 3D graphics.  They have several things in common, and once you have played one, you really have the concept of them all.

1)       Wreck Everything

Unless you are in a vehicle, the Lego games feature two characters walking in an environment.  Some of the environment looks non-Lego, but anything made of bricks means that it can be destroyed.  The reason why you do this is not only to build some new creations that will further the level, but so you can get Lego studs.  This is the commerce in the game with silver worth 10, gold worth 100, blue worth 1,000, and the rare purple stud worth 10,000.

2)      See if you can't get True Hero/True Adventurer/True Jedi the first time

I'm going to declare this as an optional rule.  Just to let you know, every TT Lego game has a "True" status that can only be achieved by obtaining a certain amount of Lego studs per level, which varies depending on the level.  A majority of levels will allow you to obtain this the first time, but you have to really search hard for studs in some to get this status, which will award you with a gold brick.  I recommend smashing stuff because you can find hidden things like MiniKits, which I will explain later.  However, you will need to replay every level as Free Play, and if you have a Score Multiplier, which I will explain next, it is easy to qualify for "True" status.

3)      Save Your Studs

If you have studs, do not spend them on just anything.  Yes, there are a lot of characters and other rewards that can obtained by spending, but you should save for what is most worthwhile.  I consider the red bricks the most valuable, as you can purchase times bricks like 2X, 4X, 6X, 8X, and 10X.  These usually will cost one million studs, which is usually pretty easy to make after playing all the levels the first time.  Then, once you have one of them, it is easier to make money to buy the others.  Combined, you can get 3840X, which comes in very handy for "True" status.  This way, in Free Play Mode (which I'll explain next), you can just walk through the level and not worry about getting the correct amount of studs.  Other things worth buying are detectors for MiniKits and other level bonuses, and then some characters have to be bought because they have special abilities that will uncover mini-kits.

4)      Mark Places for Free Play Later

Every TT Game has a level, and then will allow you to play "Free Play" later.  This means that you can replay the level, but you can choose what character you can play as.  Each character has different abilities that will often lead to the uncovering of MiniKits, bonuses in the games which every level has.  As you go through the level the first time, you might want to write down places (or take screenshots) of places that the initial characters cannot access.  Chances are, that is a place for a Free Play character to get through and find some hidden bonus.

5)      Use the Map To Find All Bonuses

One handy thing about more of the recent TT Games is that once all levels are complete, you are free to explore the Lego open world of the game.  This is where you can find all the Red Bricks, Gold Bricks, People in Peril, and so forth.  Since the game allows for transparent studs so the player can go where they need to go, just use it.
