It is pretty clear that Marvel and Netflix have a plan for an interesting and more gritty branch of Marvel's cinematic universe with Daredevil.  That show became a huge hit when it was released last April, and it is just one stone within a wall.  Daredevil is one of four shows known as the Defenders, and the second show, Jessica Jones, will debut in the fall.  This is what is known about Jessica Jones with its Release Date, News, and new trailer.

According to CNET, the new trailer, which is more than a teaser, has a lot of interesting images that related back to Jessica Jones comic book origins.  There is an opening with a barrel of a weird substance tips over, and then there is a door for Alias Investigations.  It ends with a text of "it's time the world knew her name".

Jessica Jones is not a name known to people who don't read the comics, at least not in the sense of other Marvel heroes like Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor.  Jessica Jones, in spite of not having a code name, has powers that she gained when a car that her father was driving crashed, and she was immersed in a strange liquid.

Jones then becomes controlled by a Marvel villain known as Purple Man, who has the power to make people do his bidding.  After breaking his control, she forgets about her superpowers and opens Alias investigations.

Jones was the star of a comic book series known as Alias back in 2001-2004, and not related to the J.J. Abrams show of the same name.  Jones dates Luke Cage, another Marvel character with superpowers.  She also works a lot with Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil.

Jessica Jones will star Krysten Ritter as the titular main character who is poised to become iconic after Season 1.  Also on the show is David Tennant, former Doctor Who star, who will be playing Kilgrave, the series villain, according to NME.  Carrie-Anne Moss, who is most famous for the character "Trinity" from The Matrix films, will be playing Harper, who is an ally to Jessica.  Mike Colter (from Million Dollar Baby) will be playing Luke Cage, and Rachel Taylor is Patricia "Trish" Walker, Jessica's best friend.  Other stars including Eka Darvill, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval.   It is also revealed that Rosario Dawson, who plays the "Night Nurse" on Daredevil, will be making an appearance.

The series executive producer and showrunner is Melissa Rosenberg, who is responsible for adapting the Twilight novels into films.   Jessica Jones is just one show that will take place in the Defenders universe, as Netflix and Marvel have plans for two more shows that occur in the continuity of Jessica Jones and Daredevil.  The next new one planned is Luke Cage, followed by Iron Fist, a partner to Luke Cage when he was in his "Power Man" persona.  Those shows are planning to debut in 2016, with Defenders movies in the works as well.  The second Season of Daredevil is also planned for early next year as well.

Look for Jessica Jones on November 20th, 2015.  The entire season will be posted, and there will be a lot of binge-watching.
