Considering that Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil was a monster breakout hit, it was only a matter of time before Season 2 finally became available. A new trailer has just surfaced that has the actual release date, and this is what is known about Daredevil Season 2 including its release date and new trailer.
The new teaser trailer is a lot like the last teaser for the show, but there is actually less footage from Season 2 shown. Points for creativity have to be given as the trailer displays events from the show as paintings on a building that greatly resembles Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. From out of nowhere, the glass windows begin to shatter, as if shot.
The trailer is more metaphorical than actual, and it shows that Matt Murdock (Daredevil's real name) will be faced with a lot of guilt over what he does. Matt was raised a Catholic, and he might have some qualms about beating up criminals in a suit that a clear reference to the devil.
The shots through the window is symbolic of the entrance of The Punisher to the show. The Punisher will be played by Jon Bernthal, and he is also a very famous antihero from the Marvel universe. Unlike Daredevil, The Punisher is quite okay with pulling the trigger on criminals, and these two vigilantes will meet up and their ideologies will surely clash.
Also added to the mix is Elektra (Elodie Yung) who is also a famous Marvel vigilante who has also been known to kill. She is also known as being a love-interest for The Man Without Fear, and Matt could also be dealing with feelings for Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) in Season 2.
There really is a lot going on with Daredevil Season 2, as there were plotlines left in last season that were unresolved, like Karen's secret killing of Wilson Fisk's best friend James Wesley (Toby Leonard Moore). Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) will not be returning for this season, but Matt's mentor Stick (Scott Glenn) will be.
Another returning member of the case is Claire Temple (aka "Night Nurse" played by Rosario Dawson). Considering that Claire made an appearance on last November's Jessica Jones, it is possible that there could be some Daredevil/Jessica Jones crossover going on. In short, Daredevil is going to have his hands full in Season 2, and he will also be trying hard to keep his hands clean.
Netflix and Marvel's Daredevil will be available on the streaming service on March 18, 2016 at 12:01 A.M.. For those keeping track of comic book related screen material this year, that is a week before the premiere of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, DC's latest attempt at comic book films, hits the theaters. We'll have to wait and see how this year's season of Daredevil affects the Marvel Cinematic universe.
