For years, Aziz Ansari played Tom Haverford on Parks and Recreation, and his enthusiastic attitude certainly kept people watching it, not to mention Chris Pratt and Amy Poehler. His success there led him to him to create and produce his own show known as Master of None on Netflix, and it appears to be a hit. This leads to the argument about when will Master of None be renewed for a Season 2. 

Part of the reason shows like Master of None have yet to receive a release date for a season 2, if any, is the business model for Netflix is quite different than network TV.  With network television, an episode airs weekly, and it is easier to track if the show is a success by the end of the season.  With Netflix, the entire season is released at once, and so it takes a while before all its viewers start talking about it, assuming that they ever do. 

A recent report from Variety discussed how Alan Qurtzel, the NBCU president of research and development presented rating estimates for streaming video shows.  Wurtzel used ratings derived from San Francisco's based tech firm Symphony, which can measure TV viewing with audio content recognition technology, which is software loaded on user's phones that can track viewership by capturing audio content recognition technology. 

During this time, it was found that Master of None managed to grab 3.9 million.  Considering that Netflix does not disclose specific viewing figures for its shows, this number could easily be a whole lot higher.  The numbers on Master of None could be quite similar to Netflix's current biggest original show Orange is the New Black. 

It seems like 3.9 million would be enough to renew Master of None, and it certain is being talked about a lot. The show has gained a lot of critical acclaim since then and achieving a 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.  It has also received a pretty high 8.5 rating on IMDB. 

However, there are a lot of shows like Jessica Jones which are getting a lot of talks, but still do not get are series renewal. Netflix tends to be very slow when it comes to announcing if another season of a show is on the way.

For those that have not seen Master of None, the show involves Aziz playing a wannabe actor named Dev Shah living in New York City.  Episodes involve him in relationships that are not meaningful and one that is, as well as an attempt to get his acting career going.  The show's set-up is that sense of semi-biographical realism that can be found on FX's Louie and other shows that don't hold back from showing that life can be very unfair to downright cruel. 

It is possible that perhaps Master of None was only planned to have one season, but Bustle reveals that Aziz and co-showrunner Alan Yang have no shortage of ideas.  If there is a way to bet on whether or not shows will return, Master of None would be a safe bet. Considering that it premiered last November, Season 2 would probably return this Fall.
