Ohio State's 23-game winning streak has just ended. No. 9 Michigan State beat No. 3 Ohio State after Michael Geiger hit a 41-yard field goal before the time expires, giving Spartans a 17-14 win.

The 2014 NCAA Football champion will not have a chance to defend their title anymore  Michigan State's better game plan and physical style of play helped them to outlast the defending winner. Fans of Michigan State hope that their team will win the national title this year.

The Spartans accomplished two things after winning the game: it gives them dominance in the Big Ten East and also vaults them back into College Football Playoff contention.  The Buckeyes' loss could knock them out from a four-team playoff.

The Spartans (10-1) won even tough their quarterback Connor Cook, who suffers a shoulder injury, did not play in the game. The team used instead the combination of two inexperienced quarterbacks --Damion Terry and Tyler O'Connor. The two put up 203 yards on the ground.

Michigan State's defense limited the offensive power of Buckeyes to 132 yards on 45 plays.

In the first part of the game, the Spartans had trouble moving the ball around the floor. However, their pesky defense intimated J.T. Barrett, Ezekiel Elliott of the Buckeyes.

Furthermore, the confusing rotation between O'Connor and Terry threw Ohio state off-balance. The duo moved the ball effectively. Their combination produced 50 yards on 16 carries. O'Connor made an amazing and timely throws for the Spartans, despite the fact that he is only 7-for-12 for 89 yards.

The well-drawn play of the Michigan State confused Ohio State that they don't know what was coming. Most of the time, the Buckeyes prepare for a pass-heavy offense from the Spartans.

For the Ohio State's offense, it was baffling. The rainy weather also had an impact on their gameplay. According to a report from USA Today, the team played conservatively against the Spartans.

Ohio's Quarterback Barrett threw only 16 passes for 46 yards. Moreover, Elliot -- a contender for Heisman Trophy -- had only 12 carries throughout the game, 33 yards overall.

For Jeff Long, College Football Playoff committee chairman, he said that he is not convinced Michigan State was ahead against Ohio State Buckeyes until the Spartans won in the Saturday's game.

Next weekend, Michigan State will face Penn State.
