Considering that video games are a big seller for the holiday season, it was no surprise that the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One had bundles on sale on Black Friday for about the same competitive price. Microsoft is planning to gear up for even more holiday sales with a Countdown Sale, and this is what is known about Microsoft Xbox Countdown Sale for Xbox One and 360 Release Date with Games, Movies, and Applications price reductions.
According to CNET, there will be a big sale on Microsoft games that is not only going to be for the holidays but continue until next year. It runs from December 22, 2015, to January 7, 2016. This Countdown Sale has over 200 daily and weekly discounts on games for the Xbox One as well as applications, TV Shows, as well as movies, available worldwide from the Xbox Store. This allows for sales of up to 40 to 60 percent daily and weekly, and for those who "Go Gold" with Microsoft's Games with Gold subscription get a bonus of ten percent more.
Major Nelson calls it the Xbox Store's biggest sale ever. Games that will be on sale include such titles like Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and Rare Replay. There will also be some deals on other big games like Fallout 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, and more. Xbox One owners can take advantage of discounts on more than 10 Backward Compatibility games offered during this sale.
As far as what movies and TV shows will be available during this time, the titles that have dropped include Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Mad Max: Fury Road, Archer Seasons 1-5, and hundreds more. The applications for sale include Sling TV, Crunchyroll, and CBS All Access with exclusive one-month trial deals.
In addition to all these deals on games, movies, and applications, the Xbox One console itself is also getting a price cut, as it will be $299 through December 26th.
It's pretty clear that Microsoft is attempting to one-up Sony when it comes to offering deals for the holiday, as well as attempting to get in some sales for early January. Right now, they are offering a promotion of $50 off and include a free game on the Microsoft Store. Believe it or not, the Xbox 360 still draws sales. Speaking of the Xbox 360, the new backwards compatibility option has opened up Xbox One users to, even more, worlds of gaming for past generation games.
The video below shows a preview of the sale, but it doesn't have any particular prices or games listed as yet. Considering that the sale doesn't kick off until tomorrow, that is not surprising, but following Major Nelson on Twitter and visiting the Countdown Sale on December 22nd might reveal more results.
