Microsoft Surface Pro 4 was just released October last year, but some gadget lovers are now looking forward to the Surface Pro 5 rumors. Several tech websites claim the much-anticipated tablet will be launched before the year ends. Now, here's what is currently known about Microsoft's Surface Pro 5 rumors.
It is reported that the Surface Pro 5 will come with the next version of Windows 10 called "Redstone 2." However, the operating system is not yet available and still under development stage. The Surface Pro 5 cannot appear unless RedStone 2 is already finished.
Tech Radar predicted that the next-generation Surface Pro would become available on October 2016, while Surface Book 2 would come in the spring of 2017. Microsoft is expected to introduce top of the class features on its new devices, so this timeline seems plausible.
It is also interesting to note that the current Surface Pro 4 was announced in October 2015 and became available that same month. If Microsoft decided to release its fifth Surface Pro device on October this year, the device would be perfect for Christmas gift.
As for the price of Surface Pro 5, International Business Times estimated it would cost around $899.
The upcoming Microsoft tablet will be fueled with an Intel Skylake chipset. As mentioned earlier, the device will have Windows 10 Redstone 2 OS right out of the box.
Many users complain about the power capacity of Surface Pro 4, which is said to last around five to six hours only. So, Microsoft might improve the battery life of Pro 5 by up to seven hours, putting it closer with MacBook and iPad Pro.
Furthermore, the Surface Pen could have new features. Speculations indicate that it will become available with a charging port, power on/off button and a LED light for notification.
The Surface Pro 5 could come with larger screen of 13.3 inches to go head-to-head against the Apple iPad Pro that comes with a 12.9-inch display. The larger Pro 5 could also boast 4k resolution.
In addition, the tablet will introduce a USB Type-C port, which is present on MacBook and Chromebook Pixel. Microsoft already installed the USB-C port on its new Lumina phones, so it's practical to apply the technology to the Surface lineup.
As always, readers are advised to take this Surface Pro 5-related information with a grain of salt. Microsoft has not yet denied or confirmed any of these specifications.
