Moto X release date is scheduled for end-of-August or early September. Google's first high-end smartphone features Motorola’s latest innovation on mobile computing processor, X8, that enables latest innovation of touchless control, where users are able to wake up the phone, call contacts and navigate directions with precise voice-recognition capabilities.

Since Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility in 2011 for $12.5 billion, the search-engine giant has restructured Motorola by laying off thousands of Motorola workers and hiring talents from the cell-phone company’s top competitors, including Apple, Samsung and Amazon.

According to New York Times, Moto X represents the new company, said Igbal Arshad, Motorola’s senior vice president of global product development.

Google’s new phone uses eight processing cores that combine multiple processors and algorithms, including two low-powered processors that manage information coming in at all times from the phone’s microphone, gyroscope and accelerometer.

With ‘trigger words’ or two twists of the wrist, the phone’s camera can be turned on. These touchless controls are expected to define the next generation of user-experience for computers and wearable devices.

“We want to change the way people call, we want to change the way people search and we want to change the way people navigate,” he said. “That’s what touchless control enabled you to do. So we had to design a mobile computing system to do that.

Arshad said the company’s X8 computing system was part of the company’s long-term goal to make mobile devices smarter and fit in the next generation of mobile devices, such as wearable computers like Google Glass and a smart watch.

The other significant innovation is that users may be able to order the Moto X in up to 18 different colors and various back-textures through a “Moto Maker” website, the Forbes reports. The customizing options provide users with 500 different combinations of color and texture for the phone.

In the last few days, leaked rumors of other main specs of the phone say Moto X has 16 GB of storage and costs $199 on a two-year contract, or an extra $50 for 32 GB. It weighs 130 grams and features a 4.7 inch AMOLED screen that’s 316 pixels per inch, along with a 10 megapixel, Clear Pixel RGBC camera.
