Motorola has had a good success rate with their Moto series, particular the X series of their personal flagship.  So far, the company has been pretty good about keeping its smartphones updated with the current version of Android, so the real question is when the next flagship due to arrive?  This would be the Motorola Moto X for 2016, and this flagship is due to arrive within the next few months.  This is the latest news about the Motorola Moto X 2016 flagship smartphone release date, as well as the price and features.

Android Pit reports that the specs for the Moto X 2016 will begin with its new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.  There is some kind of L-shaped pip that runs within the phone which allows the phone to keep from overheating.

The screen size is, according to Lenovo SVP Chen Xudong, going to be a minimum of 5 inches.  Considering that the Moto X Pure Edition has 5.7 inches, the Moto X Play is at 5.5 inches, than it is safe to say that the 2016 Moto X could be around that size.

The design is such that it will have a metallic frame with the circular camera off-center, with a stereo speaker on the back.  There has been a recent photo from GSM Arena that could be a glimpse of the 2016 Moto X, and you can see it in the image, even though the photo is not the best resolution.  Chances are, this picture was taken very quickly by someone who just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

The picture was taken at a subway station or bus, but there are a few details that have been revealed.  Many, including Droid Life, have suggested that this photo was taken in Chicago, where Motorola's headquarters is based in the United States.  This has not been confirmed, but this photo holds vital clues as to the features of the new flagship phone from Motorola.

It looks like there is a fingerprint scanner on the lower bezel that is perpendicular to the USB Type-C port.  It is possible that there is a fingerprint scanner on the front, which is an odd choice, as most of the time they go for the back.  The Moto logo is on the top left, near what appears to be a speaker grill and a front-facing flash.

As far as the release date for the Moto X 2016 Edition goes, it has not been set.  Some predict that it will show up in spring or the summer, but the Moto X isn't one to have a very clear release date pattern established, like Samsung and LG does at CTIA.
