The New York Knicks are finally living up to the expectations of their fans. Following an abysmal NBA season last year, the Carmelo Anthony squad appears to be rallying together to make up for their disappointing performance in the previous year. Moreover, the entry of rookie Kristaps Porzingis in the New York Knicks locker room undoubtedly added the highly needed boost to the basketball squad.

It is widely known that the New York Knicks aim to build an NBA team around their franchise star: Anthony. However, the earlier experiments, which included Jeremy Lin and Amar'e Stoudemire, failed to see a wingman capable of meshing well with Anthony. Lin is now with the Charlotte Hornets while Stoudemire is currently making waves in the Miami Heat locker room. As for the New York Knicks, it looks like the NBA team finally hit gold with 20-year-old Porzingis.

"This early we didn't think that this kind of the jelling and the chemistry we have so far would be there," shared Anthony, referring to the easy way he and Porzingis managed to play together, according to the New York Daily News. He went on to state, "We all thought this would take some time to kind of figure out. But anytime you can play with a stretch 4, it makes the game a little bit easier. And it's easier to figure that out. When you have a stretch-4 guy who can play the wing, and he's 7-3, you know where he's at, you know what he can do. So that makes the game easier. It makes the chemistry process that much easier."

Apart from acknowledging their easy chemistry, Anthony further pointed out that Porzingis' entry in the New York Knicks roster could bolster the team's chances of landing an NBA championship trophy. In addition to the accomplishment, Anthony noted that Porzingis could very well be his successor once he exits the New York Knicks locker room.

"He's gonna lead this organization long after I'm retired," predicted Anthony, according to the New York Post. The New York Knicks star added, "Hopefully we can hoist one or two [championship trophies] before that happens."

Since the entry of Porzingis to the NBA, Anthony has been vocal on his support for the rising star. The New York Knicks veteran even went as far as declaring that he is willing to serve as a guide or a "big brother" to the 20-year-old rookie.

Anthony shared, "I'm here to help him and use my experience and help him get his feet wet, and he's doing a pretty good job. I don't want any credit for that. He's doing a good job on his own. Learning the game and getting a feel for the game. You can see each game he's getting better.''
