After New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady got entangled with Donald Trump, it seems he and head coach Bill Belichick felt compelled to explain their relationship with the newly elected president. According to the coach, although he considers Trump as his friend, this doesn't mean that he is politically aligned with him.

On Monday, before the results of the election were unveiled, Trump told his followers at a campaign rally in New Hampshire that he had the support of Belichick and Brady. He even read a letter sent to him by Belichick to congratulate him for his campaign.

However, soon after Trump was revealed as the next president of the country, the coach of the Patriots held a press conference to explain his controversial ties with the Republican candidate. According to Belichick, his letter doesn't mean anything. It should also not be taken as a clear indication that he voted for Trump.

"I write hundreds of letters and notes every month," Belichick said. "It doesn't mean I agree with every single thing a person things about politics, religion and other subjects."
"I have multiple friendships that are important to me," he added. "That's what that is all about. It's not about politics. It's about football. We have a huge football game this week against a great team, a great organization. That's where it all is going forward."

As for Brady, he steered away from the questions regarding his alleged support for the country's 45th president. Instead he noted that Trump has been a close fan of the Patriots even before he decided to run for office.

"He's been in our locker room for time, absolutely," Brady said. "He's been to a lot of our games over the years and been in our locker room a lot."

"That was long before he was ever a politician, too," he added. "Like I said, you develop relationships with a lot of different people, and I've certainly come in contact with a lot of different people over the years. Some become your friends and you keep in touch with, and some you don't."
