Last year, Google unveiled some new Android devices that were ready to handle what was then the latest version of Android with 6.0, also known as Android M or Marshmallow.  Now that Marshmallow has been almost distributed among popular brands of Android devices, it is now time to think about the next generation of new Google 2016 Nexus Smartphones  that comes with Android N, along with some new features like 3D Touch. 

We have already discussed Android N in a previous article about how it will have a change on the System Settings menu, different notification panel, as well as removing of the app drawer.  Now there is some news that Android N will have 3D Touch functionality, like what is on the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus. 

Even though very little is actually known about Android N, there is already news about the newest devices that will have it.  The International Business Times reports that HTC is building a Nexus 2016 smartphone that will come preinstalled with Android N, possibly two of them, actually.  The Lawyer Herald states that these Nexus phones could be patterned after the HTC One M10, which still has yet to be revealed. 

In fact, GSM Arena states that the newest HTC phone could be simply the HTC 10.   Rumors have it that this phone will have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, 3 GB of RAM, and possibly some better camera.  Considering that the HTC One M9, the HTC One M10 (or HTC 10) predecessor, already has a very decent camera, that is saying a lot. 

In addition to HTC, some Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi, Meizu, Oppo, and Vivo are all working on Android phones that have similar pressure-sensitive displays.  The HTC phones could be the latest version of whatever Google is planning to put their new version of Android on.  Last year's models were the Nexus 5X, made by LG, and the Nexus 6P, made by Huawei.  There are speculations that both Nexus 2016 phones will be sporting smaller displays than the current Nexus phones. 

Chances are these two new Nexus devices will be unveiled at Google I/O, which is a massive developers conference that Google puts on every summer.  This year it will on May 18, 2016, and this will probably be when Google will unveil Android N, which could be version 7.0. 

There are also rumors saying that Nexus is working on kind of a VR product similar to the Gear VR headset from Samsung.  If that is the case, then Android N could be made for some virtual reality, which makes a whole lot of sense considering the amount of VR devices scheduled to arrive on the market soon, including the Oculus, the HTC Vive, and a few others.
