By now, you know that when Apple has a new product coming out, it is made into a big deal.  Such is the case with the 2016 versions of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.  There has been much debate on the release date of these new Apple laptops, and a recent price cut could evidence that the 2016 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are coming soon.

According to Ecumenical News, there has been a recent price cut on the latest MacBook Pro, which could signal that new models of MacBooks are on the way.  Generally, it has been noticed that price cuts on the Apple store are a signal that a new model is about to be revealed.  As can be seen on eBay, the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro has dropped from its original price of $2,499 to $1,949.  That is a savings of $500, with no charge for shipping.

So, while this might not be a clear signal that the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air are on the way, it feels like it could be an indicator.  The issue is that MacBooks were also given a price cut last year before the holiday season, and many thought that it was a signal that the 2016 MacBooks would be announced and possibly even be available before Black Friday 2015.

Right now, we know that Apple is planning to have some big announcement event like they do whenever they have an iPhone in March.  Most believe that this event will officially announce the possible iPad 3, Apple watches, and possibly a smaller version of the iPhone.

Assuming that the price cut is the previously mentioned indicator, it could be that the 2016 editions of Apple's laptops will be announced at this event as well.  After all, they were announced at the same time last year.  There have also been rumors that Apple could wait until their World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) that occurs in the summertime.  If the latter is the case, then the new 2016 MacBooks are looking for a fall release date.

There have been many rumors as to what the new MacBooks will be.  Most of these rumors are united that it will have a Skylake Core M processor, and this will ramp up the performance of Apple's laptop, giving it a higher battery life and better performance.  It is possible that this will reduce the weight of the laptop making it 2 lbs, and be very thin at 13.1 mm.

Then there are rumors about a 12-inch Retina display version, with a resolution of 2304 x 1440 pixels and touchscreen capability.  So, this leads to rumors of MacBooks that are thinner, lighter, and faster, that should be around in late spring or late fall.  The price is expected to be at $1,299 to $1,599.
