Nintendo certainly has their own way of making sure that you will remain hooked to their titles, and the Japanese company is also an expert at selling you the same console or piece of hardware in a million different ways, through simplistic means of changing the color or perhaps even the livery on the outside. Heck, if they can create a hit this holiday season by pushing an amalgamation of 30-year old technology with modern day trappings in the form of the NES Classic Edition, we do not see why one should also give their amiibos a miss. Amiibos are basically small figurines that look like a collectible, but when used in conjunction with select titles on Nintendo’s platforms, they will then be able to enhance gameplay in a whole new way by offering bonuses, power ups, as well as providing your in-game character with new and special abilities that will make your gaming experience all the more worthwhile. It seems that those who have set their minds on picking up the Legend of Zelda 30th anniversary amiibo will be able to use it in the upcoming, highly anticipated title -- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is not out just yet, and will probably be released some time next year in order to work on the Nintendo Switch (and perhaps the Nintendo Wii U, showcasing Link’s cooking skills in the wild as well), here is some information that might make you want the game to be released now. Apparently, the 30th anniversary amiibo of The Legend of Zelda does have a role to play in the actual gameplay of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The official Nintendo Tumblr page did see the Japanese gaming company reveal a slew of in-game items which can be unlocked or earned via the 30th anniversary Amiibo for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. There will be a quartet of different amiibos which are available for purchase as part of the 30th anniversary of this well loved franchise. The first of the four would pay homage to the classic 8-bit Link that hails from the NES version of The Legend of Zelda. This amiibo will be able to spawn across various barrels into Breath of the Wild. Once the barrels are spawned in, players can then break them open, taking their pick of goodies from within.
The second amiibo would be the Link from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This Link will be the older Link who has seen his fair share of adventures through his time traveling escapades that were showcased in the N64 title. The amiibo will feature the Ocarina in hand, where you will be able to dig in on some meat when the amiibo is used on the game. Free meat is more than welcome in Breath of the Wild, as it is Link’s sustenance in the game.
The Toon Link is the third amiibo, paying homage to the GameCube version of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Toon Link offers your fair share of fresh fish that should further help you in your sustenance. Last but not least, the Princess of Hyrule, Zelda, is the fourth amiibo that is based on Wind Waker. Using her, you can then obtain a selection of plants at random which can be crafted.
