DeMarcus Lawrence, the defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys, is currently in danger of getting slapped with a four-game suspension for violating one of the NFL's policies. According to reports, the disciplinary action was imposed after it was discovered that he used amphetamines.

Dallas News, which was able to gather information regarding the matter from league sources, noted that the NFL has not yet officially announced the suspension nor informed the Cowboys regarding the status of Lawrence.

This means that Lawrence's camp could still be in the process of appealing the league's decision.

However, if the NFL pushes through with the suspension, then Lawrence will be the second Dallas player who will not be able to join the team during the start of this season. As noted by ESPN, defensive end Randy Gregory will also not be able to play in the first four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

If this happens, then Dallas will be in the same position it found itself last year. In the previous season, the team started the year without Greg Hardy and Rolando McClain due to their suspensions.

Aside from the repeating the events of last season, the possible suspension on Lawrence could also affect how Dallas will tackle this year's draft. Given the fact that the team could miss two of its defensive ends, the Cowboys could end up shifting its draft strategy to fill these posts.

According to Yahoo Sports, Dallas currently owns the fourth pick, which means they still have a chance to get promising quarterback Carson Wentz or Jared Goff. But due to the team's current status, it might have to ditch this option and use their fourth pick to snatch a potential starting defensive end.

Luckily for Dallas, Joey Bosa of Ohio State could be available in the fourth pick. But, if the Cowboys misses out on this opportunity, they can always go with Jalen Ramsey of Florida State.

Of course, these are only speculations and everything could change depending on the outcome of Lawrence's suspension. Hopefully, more details about this case will be released soon by either the team or the NFL.
