No Man's Sky: Everything you need to know

Indie developer Hello Games initially announced No Man's Sky will be released this June. However, it pushed back the game's launching to August 9. Now, No Man's Sky website says the game will be available to PC worldwide on August 12.

Here's the latest about No Man's Sky release date, gameplay and update.

In other retail stores, Humble Store lists No Man's Sky with August 9 release date, while Steam says the game will be available on August 13. For GOG, it sticks to the non-committal "soon."

As of now, Hello Games has not yet released any statement about the sudden change of No Man's Sky PC release date. For PlayStation 4, the game's release date remains date the same -- August 9th in North America and August 10th in Europe.

Several tech websites believe the game's delayed PC release is due to Hello Games's plagiarism case against a Dutch company named Genicap. Genicap accuses the developer of illegally using the "super formula" to create the game's colossal procedurally-generated universe. For the part of Hello Games, managing director Sean Murray says they did not steal the algorithm.

Hello Games claims players would have to spend 5 billion years in real time to explore all 18 quintillion planets in the game. Some gaming analysts believe there is a possibility that No Man's Sky is the largest video game ever created.

In order to create the 18 quintillion worlds, developers say they utilized the procedural generation technology. Aside from planets, it also materializes the game's alien species, plant life, buildings, spaceships, and more.

The primary goal of players in No Man's Sky is to reach the center of universe. Players are encouraged to collect data on different planets to level up. The data that they would get would unlock different alien species and more planets.

Exploring an entire universe is an arduous task, so players are equipped with a variety of tools to help them out. These items include weapons to fight enemies, a jetpack, and a scanner to collect resources.

One of the important aspects of No Man's Sky's gameplay is the spaceship. Players will use it to explore planets and land on space stations. Like other items in the game, the ship have to be upgraded to better prepare for longer space travel.

We'll keep you posted for more updates. No Man's Sky will be released on PS4 and PC next month.
