There are many rumors surrounding PlayStation Neo, which is described as Sony's most powerful console ever. The console was not present at this year's E3, leading some to speculate that it would not be released this year. However, latest reports hint PlayStation Neo will be launched this fall.
Here's the latest round-up of update about PlayStation Neo release date, specs and rumors on the web.
After Sony announced its plans to develop PlayStation 4's successor, many gaming experts believe the new system will be released this fall. In fact, GameStop executives repeatedly say they expect Sony's new console will be out later this year. And as recently as three weeks ago, Richard Leadbetter of Eurogamer claims PS NEO is on the way and will become available on October.
"Several sources have indicated to me that PlayStation Neo launches this year, despite its E3 no-show," Leadbetter wrote in his Digital Foundry blog.
Interestingly, the system's price seems to have been made public, thanks to an early product listing in Amazon. Over the weekend, PlayStation Neo's price and release date is posted on the website. However, it was quickly removed after tech websites started to report about it.
An article from Entertainment.ie, says PlayStation Neo will be out on October 30 with a price tag of 400 euros -- equivalent to $450. There's an evidence to support the rumoured October 13 launching. A 42-page report published on July 15 states the next PlayStation games should work on both PlayStation 4 and the Neo before October 2016, a timeframe that would support the deleted Amazon listing.
Furthermore, tech enthusiasts say PlayStation Neo's $450 price tag makes sense, because Sony initially announced the system should work with the PlayStation VR headset. If buyers have to purchase both PSVR and PS NEO, the price for both has to be less than other VR systems in the market.
According to Giant Bomb, PlayStation Neo will boast a higher clock speed than the original PS4 and an improved GPU. The website says the NEO will be fueled by eight Jaguar CPU cores running at 2.1GHz, which is much powerful than the 1.6GHz in the PS4.
The system will also have better hard drive than the PS4, but it's not yet clear whether it will be higher in capacity or faster connection speed. There are also reports that PS Neo will have faster Wi-Fi capabilities.
Take note that the PlayStation NEO-related details mentioned above are only rumors and speculations. Sony has not yet confirmed anything.
We'll keep you posted once the gaming company announce more information.
