The beginning of each month can only mean one thing -- new free games under the PlayStation Plus program. This is the equivalent of the Xbox Live Gold subscription that owners of the Xbox One and Xbox 360 are privy to, except that the titles under the PlayStation Plus program will obviously cater towards Sony’s collection of consoles, handheld or otherwise. The final list has been revealed, and it certainly brings about some surprises that threw us off guard while missing out on the speculated would-be titles.
For starters, the Halloween month is upon us this October 2016, which is why the first free title under PlayStation Plus would be none other than Resident Evil. What better method for you to get all excited and stoked for the upcoming creepy season than Resident Evil? It will even function as a precursor to the upcoming Resident Evil VII title, as you go right back to the beginning. Back to basics, actually.
2016 also marks the 20th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, which is why Capcom has done a fair bit of celebrations this year. This remastered HD version can be deemed to be the perfect way for one to enjoy the game. It is time to turn down the lights, close all windows, and play in the dark, complete with a kick ass sound system to scare yourself to bits as a monster bursts out from a wall, or you have just a couple of bullets left in your ammo stash to make that money shot in order to survive. Get reacquainted with old pals Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine for seasoned Resident Evil veterans, or you could be meeting them for the very first time: it does not matter. What matters is your survival in the mansion that is located within the outskirts of Raccoon City.
Transformers: Devastation is the next title available with the PlayStation Plus program this October 2016. This is a game that plays like a cartoon -- or should we say it is a cartoon that plays like the game? The lines are clearly blurred in this wonderful title that is based on the original Transformers TV series for the story and voice work. It should be a whole lot more enjoyable than those Michael Bay outings in the cinemas, and developer PlatinumGames has introduced a fun and rewarding combat system for gamers to enjoy alongside fast-paced action so that there is no such thing as sweaty palms with Transformers: Devastation. In the YouTube video above, you can see how Optimus Prime squares off with the Constructicons. Transformers: Devastation lets you choose from five Autobots in order to go up against the Decepticons and Insecticons and save the world.
The PS4 will see Resident Evil and Transformers: Devastation arrive on it, while PS3 owners will be able to enjoy Mad Riders and From Dust. As for the remaining two titles that are made available for free each month on the PS Vita via PlayStation Plus, you would be able to enjoy Code: Realize ~Guardian of Rebirth~ and Actual Sunlight. So much for Assassin’s Creed making the cut this time around, perhaps for Novembers? We hope that you are happy with the list of titles that Sony has released for PlayStation Plus October 2016 .
