Are you a Sony fan and also a PlayStation Plus subscriber? If you have answered in the affirmative, then I am quite sure that you too, would be excited to know what is coming your way this March 2017. The list of free games as part of the perks of being a PlayStation Plus subscriber has been announced, and they are none other than the following: Disc Jam (PS4), Tearaway Unfolded (PS4), Under Night: In-Birth (PS3), Earth Defense Force 2025 (PS3), Lumo (PS Vita, crossbuy on PS4), and Severed (PS Vita). Looks like there is only one crossbuy item for this month, which is good news since it delivers a perceived value for money proposition.
Do you like what you see so far? What makes this month’s PlayStation Plus lineup all the more interesting is the fact that there is a brand new title launched, which is something that does not happen all too regularly with each PlayStation Plus announcement. The new game is the much talked-about arcade sports title that is known as Disc Jam. Disc Jam is special in a sense that it was developed by High Horse Entertainment.
A little bit of trivia here: High Horse Entertainment comprises of a bunch of ex-Activision developers who are armed with the experience of working on triple A titles such as Call of Duty, Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero. In Disc Jam, gamers will find themselves thrown into a special blend of tennis and air hockey, where one will be able to enjoy one-on-one or two-on-two play using a roster of interesting characters that have their very own special abilities. We do know that High Horse Entertainment did run a beta before the game’s launch, and that beta has garnered a whole lot of rave reviews.
Expect Disc Jam to debut on the PS4, where it will keep company the other PlayStation Plus games this March 7th. It will follow in the footsteps of an indie sports game known as Psyonix’s Rocket League, which was offered as a free PlayStation Plus game when it arrived on the PS4 in July two years back. Those who are interested will also be able to pick up Disc Jam on Steam, although there has been no official PC release date attached to the title just yet.
As for Tearaway Unfolded, this is Tarsier Studios’ port of Media Molecule’s PlayStation Vita game. PS3 owners who have yet made the jump will be able to get their gaming chops in with Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late, a 2D fighting game from Ecole Software and French Bread, in addition to Sandlot’s Earth Defense Force 2025 that ought to bring back memories of heavy fighting just to save the earth from external threats. Needless to say, if you own a PS4, you will be able to play those two PS3 titles on offer as well.
Last but not least, the two PS Vita titles are the highly revered Severed from DrinkBox Studios, as well as Lumo. For those who love clinging on to the past, there is still a small window of opportunity left to take advantage of the free PlayStation Plus games for February.
