Game developer Psyonix is set to release exciting updates to the vehicle soccer game Rocket League. The new update will introduce towering skyscrapers, cyberpunk setting and retro-futuristic style to the game. Now, here's the latest about Rocket League NEO Tokyo update release date and features.

On Friday, June 10, Psyonix announced in a blog post that the Neo Tokyo update will be released on June 20 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OS. Interestingly, the developer said the Neo Tokyo is the biggest update yet for the game.

GameSpot reported the Neo Tokyo will bring awesome in-game additions that will definitely excite players. Expect that there will be brand new cars, cyber-themed map and tons of game updates. The new map is multi-leveled and will take players to futuristic-looking city.

Aside from the cybperunk stadium, the update will also introduce the new Pillars mode, which puts two gigantic walls on the field to divide the arena into three parts. Plus, expect there will be new post-game celebrations and new game customizations.

Furthermore, over 20 Rare and Very Rare item types will be added for post-online game drops with new Painted and Certified items. The update also brings new quick-chat customization options and new item trade-in system. On all three platforms, there will be eight new Trophies and Achievements.

After the release of Neo Tokyo update, Psyonix will launch two futuristic premium cars that will be available to Rocket League Collection's Edition owners on July 5 in North America and June 24 in Europe.

The upcoming new vehicles are called "Esper" and "Masamune." These two cyberpunk-themed cars will definitely bring fresh aesthetic to the game's roster of playable cars. They will also join the "Marauder" and "Aftershock" Battle-cars as DLC exclusive vehicles. Take note that each Battle-car arrives with awesome decals and tires. All four DLC cars will be available worldwide on July 18. Each car costs $1.99.

It is interesting to note that the announcement of Neo Tokyo is signal for the start of season 3 in Rocket League's competitive playlists which will reset all skill rankings from season 2.

Currently, Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners can access Rocket League for free thanks to a free multiplayer weekend on the Xbox consoles. The promo is until July 12.
