Samsung is the biggest makers of Android phones, and even though most of their newer devices don't have the latest Android 6.0, the company is already looking to the latest devices to have Marshmallow goodness. Two of these devices are scheduled to be released in a few weeks with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, but the other isn't due to arrive until late summer/early fall with the Galaxy Note 6. This is what is currently known about the Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Note 6 Release Dates, Rumors, and New Features.
There is a recent report on Engadget showing the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have leaked photos, like the ones that you see in the image. This is one time where the picture isn't really worth a 1,000 words, but it does have a more curved display.
It is difficult to tell if the rumors about reducing the 16 Megapixel sensor for a 12 Megapixel sensor is true. Yes, there is a trend now in smart devices to reduce the amount of Megapixels in the camera and achieve an overall better camera.
According to The Verge, we know that the Galaxy S7 Edge will have a 3,600 mAh battery, thanks to an FCC filing. That is much larger compared to the 3,000 mAh battery on the Note 5. It is also rumored that the S7 Edge could have a larger screen size than the regular S7, even though the 2015 versions of the S6 and the S6 Edge had a display that was equal in area.
There is also a report that the S7 and S7 Edge could have some serious waterproofing, and it will support a microSD storage. Other rumored features include its own version of Apple's 3D Touch screen, an eye-scanner, and USB Type C connector port.
The release date for the S7 and S7 Edge are known because of tradition. Samsung has unveiled their new flagship smartphone at Mobile World Congress, an annual event that takes place in Barcelona, Spain, for many years now. This event will take place on February 22 to February 25, and the S7 and S7 Edge could be announced even before the event begins, and it should be coming on February 21st, according to CNET.
As for the release date of the Note 6, don't be expecting that until Q3 2016. Some of the rumors about the Note 6 match the rumors about the S7 and S7 Edge, like how it will have a larger battery and a microSD slot. Not to mention a downgrade of its camera from 16 Megapixels to 12 Megapixels. There has been a recent report from Gotta Be Mobile that the S-Pen stylus has been improved, and that it could even double as a kickstand.
Of course, this is all just speculation and rumor, as there have also been reports of a possible 4K folding screen on the Note 6. Yes, you heard that right, and if you're thinking "I'll believe that when I see it", then you are not alone. The wait will be long for the Galaxy Note 6, but not so for the S7 and S7 Edge.
