After the successful launching of Galaxy S7 at Mobile World Congress 2016, Samsung is now gearing up to release all-new and powerful smartphones next year. The South Korean phone maker is reportedly developing five devices that will be introduced on 2017. Here's what currently known about Galaxy S8, S8 Edge, Note 7, Note 7 Edge and Foldable Galaxy X.
According to well-known Samsung blog Sam Mobile, the South Korean phone maker will release five new flagships next year. These upcoming devices are the Galaxy S8, the Galaxy S8 Edge, the Galaxy Note 7, the Galaxy Note 7 Edge, as well as the Galaxy X. The first four are said to come with a 2.5K resolution Super AMOLED display and an RBG subpixel arrangement.
Furthermore, Tech Radar predicted Samsung Galaxy S8 models could have a bigger battery capacity, which will have two days of battery life for more productivity. Also the models could offer tougher waterproof body and better camera features. The current Galaxy S7 has a brilliant camera, and users can to take it under water to snap photos.
The most interesting device of Samsung next year is the Galaxy X. The current flagships of Samsung have a curved screen, but the Galaxy X would take things further. A report from Independent claims the device has been in development with a codename "Project Valley." Rumors suggest the device will double in size when opened, and it will appear like a regular smartphone when folded.
With foldable screen, the Galaxy X will be easy carry around just like wallets. In addition, the foldable handset is going to sport a 4K display.
Industry experts say releasing a foldable phone next year would make sense given that smartphone sales are falling for most manufacturers. By making a radical design, Samsung would put its new devices ahead of the pack.
As of now, Samsung has not yet confirmed or denied any of the details above. There's no news on the release dates or prices of these high-end phones. However, based on Samsung's release cycles, buyers can expect the S8 and S8 Edge will be available in early Spring. For the Note and Galaxy X devices, they could be released in the second half of the year.
For other Samsung devices, it is reported the Note 6 will be released in mid-August. Check out our previous report for more information.
