Despite coming off from a huge win against the Los Angeles Rams earlier today, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is not too happy about the NFL's Thursday game schedules. In fact, Sherman was very vocal about his sentiments on the schedule and even called it a "poopfest."
The Seahawks took on the Rams at the CenturyLink Field earlier today and through the team's effective combination of its offensive and defensive plays, they were able to successfully keep the Rams at bay. The Seattle team was able to end the match at 24-3, giving the Seahawks a winning record of 9-4-1 as they approach the playoffs.
However, before the match, Sherman entered the week a bit cranky. After all, they just came from a loss at the hands of the Green Bay Packers last Sunday.
But aside from losing, Sherman was not happy about the schedule, Beyond the Metrics reported.
"Poopfest. It's terrible," he said about the Thursday Night Football schedule. "We got home like 1 o'clock in the morning, something like that, on Monday, and then you've got to play again."
"Congratulations, NFL, you did it again," he added. "But they've been doing it all season, so I guess we're the last ones to get the middle finger."
It's probably safe to assume that Sherman is not the only player who's not a fan of the Thursday games. After all, since this schedule was implemented, players now have a shorter time to rest in between games.
Although fans may love it since they get to watch games more frequently now, it puts the players at risk of injuries due to the lack of rest and recovery time. This could eventually push the NFL to scrap the entire idea of Thursday Night Football.
As for Sherman, he was certainly a character in the game against the Rams. At one point during the game, he yelled at the members of the Seattle coaching staff because they wanted to throw a pass from the 1-yard line.
The play, which happened during the third down, still worked as Doug Baldwin was able to secure the pass for a touchdown. For Sherman, though, it was too risky especially after seeing how that play turned out during Super Bowls XLIX. As fans might remember, that same pass to Ricardo Lockette was intercepted by the Patriots, SB Nation reported.
For Sherman, the play was too risky, which is why he would rather run the ball that attempt a pass at the 1-yard line.
"I'd rather do what most teams would do - would make a conscientious decision and run the ball straight up the middle," he said.
