Fresh off the heels of the fourth Republican debate last Tuesday night, the Democrats are having their second debate on Saturday night. All three Democratic candidates are set to discuss various issues, and it looks like this debate is set to make streaming history. This is what is currently known about the Second Democratic Debate Live Stream, CBS TV Schedule, and Preview.
The Democratic debate will air on CBS this Saturday Night, November 14th, at 9 PM ET (That is 8 PM CT and 6 PM ET) and it will be live from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, a place well-known for its primary debates.
The three remaining candidates (Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O'Malley) will debate for two hours on the subject of wages and income inequality, and this will include health care, education, and retirement issues. According to Politico, there will be no opening statements, and candidates will have 60 seconds to respond, 30 seconds for rebuttals and follow-ups, with 60 seconds for closing statements. Clinton will take center stage, with Sanders and O'Malley on each side.
Moderating the debate will be John Dickerson, host of Face the Nation, as the role of principal moderator. Helping him out will be CBS News colleague Nancy Cordes, the network's congressional correspondent. Two local journalists will help out on the panel with KCCI's Kevin Cooney and the Des Moines Register's Kathie Obradovich.
In addition to airing on the CBS television network, CBS will also air the debate on their radio affiliates. There will be a free live stream of the Democratic debate through the CBS News Channel. This just launched last year, providing continuous newscast and allows users to click on streams of individual stores. This will work on mobile devices as well as some streaming players like Apple TV, Roku, and Android TV, without any cable TV login. It can also be seen on Xbox One, which is a new development that starts this week.
According to the Gazette Times, the political reporter Major Garrett will host a preview of the debate an hour before it begins on CBSN. As the debate runs, it will be accompanied by data and tweets provided by Twitter, and Garrett will step in with reactions during commercial breaks of the televised event. For those that are watching the debate on their non-connected TVs, CBSN is a good "second screen" option to get some more information about what the candidates will be talking about.
Cut Cable Today says that the first Democratic debate set viewing records at over 15.8 million viewers. Perhaps a new record will be set this weekend with the second Democratic debate.
