Latest on this year's Steam Summer Sale

Many gamers wait for Steam's Summer Sale every year. This is the time of the year when gamers can get triple A games for a very low price. Now, a leak shared on Reddit suggests this year's sale on PC games will happen from June 23 to the Fourth of July holiday.

Here's what is currently known about when is the Steam's Summer Sale this year.

A Reddit user named MrFreemanBBQ shared a Russian-language screenshot from Valve. The screenshot reveals Steam's 2016 Summer Sale will run from 9:45 a.m. PT on June 23 until July 4 at 10 a.m. PT.

It is interesting to note that this is not the first time MrFreemanBBQ leaked Steam's Summer Sale info. The Russian tipster was also responsible for giving Steam customers a heads up about when the Summer Sale 2015 was set to begin. He posted the dates on Reddit, and then Russian social network VK spread the information.

Shortly after that, Valve officially announced the Summer Sale dates, which matched the leaked information from MrFreemanBBQ. Last year's Summer Sale happened earlier in June, from June 11 to June 21.

Polygon reported the Reddit user previously revealed several seasonal discounts of Steam, such as Summer Sale in 2012 and the Holiday Sale in 2013.

For the 2015's Winter Sale, Paypal accidentally showed the date on its website. The online payment processor revealed the last year's Winter Sale ahead of Valve's confirmation.

Aside from discounts and freebies, Valve also offers a clicker game that players can use to earn Steam Trading cards and unlock discounts. Whether this year's sale offers some twist like this remains to be seen, as per reports from GameSpot.

Many PC gamers do not buy Triple-A games immediately after their launching. They are waiting for more than six months, hoping that they can get the titles at a deep discount during one of the major sales. Enough time has passed since the fall 2015 releases so that those titles could appear in this year's Summer Sale.

For now, Valve has not yet confirmed the information from MrFreemanBBQ, but it is good to know that gamers can prepare before the Summer Sale starts. Take note that MrFreemanBBQ has a decent track record in predicting Steam's sales. Hence, the leaked information might be true.

We'll give more information once Steam has officially confirmed the dates for the sale. Stay tuned with Gospel Herald for more information.
